    72 gallon bowfront reef ready...

Just cause it's the first you've heard of it Kris doesn't mean it hasn't been happening. The first I heard about it was when I asked one of the LFS owners about them, (cause I was thinking of getting one), and he told me he wasn't carrying them anymore because he'd had to deal with so many...

    72 gallon bowfront reef ready...

RC's search function is disabled due to high server load, as usual. But I do remember several threads on there about this. Other than the marshreef threads, the others were found by searching google for 72 & bowfront & leak. Honestly I think that oceanic makes good tanks, but they had a...

    72 gallon bowfront reef ready...

I'd stay away from the 72g bows. There have been a ton of them with failures that make the 24g nanocubes look like childs play. Do a search on RC. One of the guys in the local club had one fail on him, then the brand new replacement one failed on him as well. Ruined his livingroom carpet...

    tough decisions

Moving tanks is a pain no matter what you do. I'd keep the 20L, and redo what you'd like to change. Unless you have some sort of space issues in the new place that won't allow the 20L/refugium. The larger volume is more stable, and you have more space for a larger variety of corals. B

    WormS?!?

Look like this? If so it's probably your garden variety bristle worm. They're mostly harmless. Although you don't want to touch one. :) http://www.chesapeakebay.net/polychaete.htm http://www.reefs.org/library/article/r_toonen12.html B

    10gal questions

Actually no sandbed makes it easier to siphon out the detritus and crud when you do a water change so it CAN mean a cleaner tank. Lots of folks are switching to 'bare bottom' tanks. Wouldn't work for me because I like sand-dwelling critters like jawfish. But it's an option if you don't care...

    avatar help

Hmm..I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you wanting to load a personalized avatar? If so you have to host the image that you want someplace else like photobucket and use the 'Link to offsite avatar' field. I don't think the other two fields work at this time. If this is a problem...

Here's a link to an earlier post that I seemed to have trouble finding. http://nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... =faststone You can also try the gimp. It's supposed to be nearly as powerful as photoshop, and it's freeware. I haven't had time to mess with it yet...

    sand bed question

I don't think so. Diatoms require light. the crud you're seeing lower in the sandbed is algae. Although I suppose it's possible that some of the bacteria cultures in the sandbed might be visible as well once they're established enough. But I honestly don't have any real clue if they are or...

Boudster's 10.4 Gallon Quad Chamber Nano

I'd be a tad concerned about the height of the tank with a regular reidi because they can grow up to 6". I think it would be more suitable for dwarves. However you should have some time before the horse reaches adult size, and you can always try it out to test everything and see how the...

    NanoCube users....I need some advice

I just use powerstrips and timers I picked up at Home Depot. You shouldn't have to worry about the ratings on them honestly. Just mount the sucker so that it's not likely to get dripped on, and so it's close enough that all your cords can have drip-loops and you should be fine. Glad the...

Boudster's 10.4 Gallon Quad Chamber Nano

LOL...Your pic looks a lot better than the crappy diagram I sent to you. :) I'm glad you were able to figure it out with help from the descriptions. This is gonna be one very cool tank. I'm glad I could help. B

    Seahorses.....

I had a friend I met here through the local reef club, that kept 6-8 dwarfs in one of the little net breeder boxes in her sump. They did great, and it really made me want to try it, until I heard how much of a pain feeding them is. http://www.seahorse.org/library/article ... ping.shtml...

    Ballast warming up

It looks like an impressive piece of equipment...but IMO a waste of money for a nano. Then again my nanos don't have MH, heater, chiller, multiple PHs, (or any for that matter), so I guess if you had all of that on your nano it might be worth the money. I wouldn't plug anything else into...

    NanoCube users....I need some advice

Sh*t happens. If theres an issue with the powerstrip it may be underdriving or overdriving the ballasts, or simply continually surging them. Saltwater could have dripped into it, and it's shorted/corroded. There could be a defect in the cord someplace that's gotten worse over time as it's...

    sand bed question

I hate looking at this thread. Usually diatoms will disappear after the cyle has finished, and water quality is improved. B
