Yeah the most important thing with nudi dips is the fresh water and the Lugols... temp should be about the same but doesnt have to be exact. I am VERY interested to see the rc.com thread about hot dips though. Jesse

I too have never heard of using hot water... that will REALLY stress the frag for sure. I have also ONLY heard of using Loguls Iodine when doing dips... other iodines are never suggested mainly because of their weaker concentration. Jesse

Did you ever consider the Tunze Nanostreams. They will give a MUCH lager diam flow...roughly 18".... and give much more flow...about 650 GPH each and are a sphere about 2.5" in diameter. IMO you should really be aiming for twice the flow that you have... 26x is a very low-flow reef. Jesse

All my zoas are in the process of growing out... all I have are small little frags right now! The only real colony I have (red and green's) is gonna be tough to frag so I am waiting for those to gow out too first. Ill see what I can do for pics... Im right at Beach/Edinger so you can swing...

I would start a little higher than 400gph... that is about where an average flow 12 gallon tank should be anyways. Plus, you are going to want some sort of mechanical media to complete the purpose of the high-flow tank. THat is to keep all the detritus etc in suspension where it can then be...

Umm... I would keep it right there... you mean to say that you only have 5"-6" of water?? Keep a close eye out for bleaching... that is overkill for just about everything. Jesse

If the tank is taller than about 20", you would almost NEED at least T5HO or MH lighting... one thing to consider. Also, if the tank is too narrow front to back, it makes for very difficult aquascaping for a reef tank. Thirdly, you dont want to get yourself into a reef tank without adequate...

I have a 20L with a 20L sump, both topless, and I too use about a gallon a day. You definitely want to use a buffer to get the pH, and even the alkalinity, right. This will help to keep your main tank more stable. Jesse

IMO and IME the T5's are much brighter and I prefer the Blue Plus/Super Actinic combo to any PC actinic I have ever had.... I have seen the MH/PC in action though and I dont think you will be disappointed. Jesse

Im sure it is possible but would take some work. You would also void the warranty. Why not build a canopy and install a 150 watt MH retro with 2x24 watt T5HO supplementation? You could do this for about $285 plus cost of wood for canopy. That Outer orbit is good but costs $365 on...

Sounds good! I contemplated the black sand idea... might even do it some day, we'll see. As long as you have adequate flow down near the sand bed, you should be good to go. Otherwise, it's nothing that a turkey baster cant take care of! Jesse
