    Valenciennia strigata

Very nice.. these guys are soo cool. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he is getting enough food. If this is in your 15g he may not get enough food from sifting the sand bed. Nice fish! Jesse

    Eheim

I tried to make the gatorade bottle one and it worked well... until the pump I had took a dump! I would say try it! What do you have to lose... $1.50? LOL I would just run the Eheim with some coarse filter pad and the carbon. The nice thing about running the Eheim is if you have it hooked...

    Eheim

I mentioned avoiding the pellets only because granular activiated carbon (the one with irregularly shaped peices) has a larger surface area and is therefore more effective. Other things work into that as well such as pore size. A good quality GAC is Marineland's Black Diamond. You can get a...

I dont know how often he comes around, but here is his answer to that from another thread... "I use Canon 20D bodies and Sigma EX 50 and 180 mm macro lenses, with and without extension tubes." HTH, Jesse BTW, these are still some of my favorite pictures.... love 'em!

    Adding Kalkwasser

You can add it to your RO topoff water. You want to add it at a rate of 1/8th tsp to 1tsp per gallon of RO water, mix it up well, give it a day or so to settle out. There will be a thin film on the top of the water and a white powder will settle on the bottom. You can then drip the clear...

    Jesse's 20L SPS tank

Semo, have you read this article? It is what inspired me to go the Kalk route as opposed to 2-parts (which I still may try Randy's 2-part in the future). http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/feb2003/chem.htm This is the "formula" that I am currently follwing from that article...

    Choosing plants/critters for a 10G fuge?

Well the thing with the algae growing in the refugium is if it is growing there, than it probably isnt growing in the display. the idea is the micro and macro algaes in the refugium are taking in PO4 and various other nutrients which is starving out any algaes in the display. You are going...

    Jesse's 20L SPS tank

Yeah I check the Mg levels about every 7-10 days and dose Kent Mg accordingly. I usually have it somewhere from 1,300-1,350. The Ca has been stable now at right around 400-420 and the Alk is about 9.5dKH.... I have been dosing 2 liters of Kalk every 24 hours and it has seemed to do a great job...

    400W HPS

The spectrum is usually all wrong with the HPS lamps and that is why you dont see them being used on reef tanks. MH have a totally different spectrum...actually there are about 5 different main spectrums (6500k, 10000k, 14000k, 15000k, 20000k) available and those main spectrums vary from lamp...

    Tips on shipping corals?

That works. It will also help protect the bags that it is bagged in as well. Nope. I have heard of them being sold online, I dont know where though. Whoever is interested let me know though. I get these for free from the hospital I work at. I just grab them before they get thrown away...

    aiptasia anemones

It is very hard to keep them in check. They will start to pop up everywhere and get out of hand. Do you have a picture of the anemones in your tank? Jesse
