Moving to Seattle Area ! And moving a tank

If it's a cross-country move though I would personally sell it off and start fresh. I can imagine that the move in itself would be stressful enough. If you were moving just an hour or two away, that would be different. Jesse

    lighting help

You will definitely want to upgrade to at least a dual power compact fixture like the Current USA Satellite 2x40 watt. For mushrooms and zoanthids you wont need anything more than that. Jesse

    fromia species of star fish

I have read that they need large, established tanks (like most stars) and tend to feed on sponges. Prefer high temps/salinity too. Usually dont fare too well in the long run. Overall, I would avoid them or any other star especially in a nano. Jesse

    is this too meny

No starfish in a 10g either. As far as fish, maybe one small clown and one small goby. Thats about it. Jesse

The LED moonlights are sweet. Coralife sells a 3/4 watt that should work for that tank. Jesse

feedback on nano skimmer and Question on waterchanges

Do you have a link to the skimmer? if it is the nano fission skimmer it is junk. Has your tank finished cycling? If not, I wouldnt suggest doing water changes. If it has, then that is a large amount to do but it is perfectly fine. Some suggest 105, some suggest up to 50% or more of the...

    Metal Halide Lighting

Kelvin ratings vary soooo much from brand to brand and wattage to wattage and ballast to ballast that it is very difficult to use that as a basis. A 150 watt DE 14,000k hamilton on a magnetic ballast is less blue than a 150 watt DE 14,000k Phoenix is. I have personally ran the 70 watt...

Newbie with 16 gal bow front

While the T5HO's and MH's are generally a "better" choice, PC's still have a definite spot in our hobby. Depending on the depth of the setup and the corals being housed, the hobbyist might not need anything more than PC lighting. When I had a 16g bow, I ran the Current USA 2x40 watt...

New 12 Gallon Aquapod -- Why are my snails dying?

This is true... Just a couple snails and a couple of hermits is all that is really needed in a nano tank. Some fish stores suggest a one-per-gallon rule of thumb is can lead to snails and hermits that can die from starvation and maybe even aggression. Jesse
