    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Hopefully by the end of december. I had to sort of put this on hold right now because of some family things. Jesse

    which pump

Yeah I would go with a Koralia Nano for water movement and an HOB for running carbon as well as additional water movement. That should be enough for most zoanthids, shrooms, and other softies. Jesse

    which pump

I have the nano and the flow is soo gentle that I think the Koralia 1 wouldnt be too much. The only thing is the Koralia 1 is a bit larger. Are you going to have any other sources of water movement? Jesse

new to nano , need some advice

The lighting is going to look super yellow on a saltwater tank. You are going to want lighting in the range of 10,000k and probably some actinic lighting too. As far as everything else, you should find alot of helpful advice in this forum (Beginner's) and some of the others too (Member's...

    Quick setup question

I think you'll be happy with the JBJ. That would be my choice for that size AIO tank. The Red Sea is cool, but when Ive checked them out I have been a little disappointed with the lighting, the built-in timer (what happens when it takes a dump ((which by the way it looks like a cheap timer)))...

Your rock looks like lace rock... are you sure it is "live rock"?? Jesse

    40-50 watt to much for a 5.5g?

Keep in mind too that alot of the output on those lamps will be lost because of inefficient reflection. The watts-per-gallon rule is really not a very good guideline either. Jesse

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Yeah I dont want to leave it that way. I used some scrap plastic from the false wall of the old cracked nanocube i had laying around and cemented it in place on the inside of the chamber with Weld-on #16. Seems to be doing the trick and you dont even notice it drom the display side. Jesse

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Well it seems that I successfully blocked off the lower openings in the overflow... except for a very small leak in the bottom one (about a drop every couple of seconds, big deal ;)) I filled it up with tap water today and got it all up and running with the Koralia and all. So far I like it...

Oh wow... how cool is that! I would love some pics but I imagine that would be pretty difficult to shoot. Jesse

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

So my project today was to block off the openings that can be seen below the Koralia. There is one at the bottom-left and one about 2/3 of the way up on the left. Blocking these off should help with only skimming the water from the surface. It seems to be a success but I will not know for...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Oh sweet! Yeah I would have like to have spent an entire $1 more and get the Koralia 1 which is 400GPH but it is a bit too big. I think with the stock pump (for now) and the nano I should be good. I love the way the magnets/suction cups work together... it really is a quality product. And...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Sorry to bore you Eddy! LOL. Slow and steady... slow and steady... unless you are paying! :p So I bolted to shelf or whatever to the stand today. I also picked up a Koralia nano. It does 240 gph and is about 2" long and uses only 3.5 watts! Not bad considering the size of the comparable...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Thanks Cris. Ill check out the rubble next time I'm over. I forgot some things that I still have to do before I fill it. I need to block off the openings in the overflow that are below the surface, and add an additional powerhead. THEN I can add sand and fill it. Jesse

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Thanks Mike... wow, some big expectations! So I am just about finished with the stand. I took my old stand from my 16g bowfront and added a 3/4" thick plywood platform for the 12g AP to rest on. I applied 3 coats of primer 4 light coats of paint and 4 coats of Varathane outdoor...
