    rusty colored sand

Remove them for sure. They lack an anaerobic area which means that they do not fully complete the nitrogen cycle. They stop at the last step where nitrates are converted to nitrogen gas thus causing a build up of nitrates. Jesse

Hey all. My wife and I went back to Cabrillo today to go to the Aquarium. I actually didnt go to the aquarium portion on the visit I documented above. That trip was just to tour the research/nursery section. I figured I would post the pictures from our trip. For anyone in the OC/LA area...

Photos of my 24NCDX....all may be lost next week:(

That is a beautiful tank and it would be a bummer to lose it. Maybe could fill a liter bottle with water and freeze it and put it in the tank?? It would help to keep the temp down for a short time. Or maybe a battery operated fan pointed at the surface of the water. They have them for...

New to SW and need some advice/help

:welcome Something like Tim linked to will work great. Another option is to point a regular oscillating floor fan at the tank. The fan will cool the glass and actually cool the water a bit without added evap. If you can prop the lid open a bit that helps too. You may want to add an extra...

Like time said 78-82 is good, but the most important thing to keep in mind is to keep the temp stable. Temp swings and be harmful to your tanks inhabitants. Jesse
