Here is the low down on my 6er!
JBJ 6 gallon Nanocube
I started my tank back in March of this year, and stocked with 5.5lbs of Fiji live rock, also has a good piece of Tonga branch live rock which is hidden as it's used to help accomodate my other pieces of live rock. I have 10lbs of Aragonite live sand where my Nassarius snails cruise through and stir up the sand to keep it looking real nice. Water used to fill and do water changes have been strictly catalina water, no substitutes, and tops off have been with RO water.
My lighting is custom lighting I ordered which gives me 2 power compacts 50/50's, and 1 true actinic totalling 54 watts under the hood. I took a 7 watt daylight that was part of my .75 pico tank, and took it apart to make it into a fuge light for my back compartment. In chamber 1 of my tank, I have a sponge, chemipure, then a sponge. Attached to the intake, I have one of those clip on surface skimmers that keeps the water surface nice and crystal clear. In chamber two I have it filled with LR rubble, and lastly in chamber 3 I have a catalina submersible heater set at 76 (compliments of my brother mike) and an upgraded pump, the mini-jet 606 for increased flow over the old stock pump. I also glued on some left over sponge I had to make the walls in the back stand higher, so when the hood comes down, the gobies or anything can't crawl or jump over. (worked very well).
Inhabitants:
Inside I have three fish now. I have one neon blue goby, one gold goby, and one bratty red headed goby that loves to spit live sand everywhere! I used to have two black Ocellaris Variants, had them since they were juveniles, but they have matured and grown quite big in the time I've owned them, so while my brother was down, they have been given a better home with my brother in his 72 gallon bowfront. I own two sexy shrimps, and one anemone crab, all of which get along famously.
Now to move on to the corals, etc.
I have two open brains, red/green, and the other the yellowish green one you see in my photos. (unfortunately because of mr. bad red goby, I came home to see it nearly buried by LS and it has died) That leaves me down to my original brain. I also have a frag of organ pipe, 1 feather duster worm, 4 heads of candy canes, some yellow polyps, a frag of small red sea pulsating xenias, 1 short tentacle orange plate, a florida ricordia, a nice frag of green frogspawn with pink tips, some pinkish mushrooms, some green, and one that is an orangeish color. All of that is decorated nicely with two vines of red bubble macro algae, and the ledges all around my LR is neatly packed with different assorted colors of zoo frags. (yellows, greens, orange, pink, reddish pinks, and some aquatic blue ones.) The janitors of my tank aka cleanup crew consist of various types of snails (Nassarius snails, Margarita, Cerith) and my hermits consists of some mini blues and a couple red scarlets.
My most recent addition was a present from my brother Mike, he gave me a frag of his Orange Montipora, which 2 of the pieces he gave me are doing just fine glued on that rock he gave me.
