    Coral questions

I think it would be fine. What's the depth on the 24g? Is there some reason you prefer going online to order via just going to the LFS? B

What should we do about the TOTS contest?

Just dumping the members stats into an excel spreadsheet will show you when the different members joined and how many posts each have. I assume there's some way that the poll sysem tracks the members names that have voted and how they voted in the background someplace. Just dump that into the...

What should we do about the TOTS contest?

I sort of figured this is what happened. 11 votes in the first day. I don't think we've had 11 votes for any one person/photo during the entire course of a contest before. Kind of obvious if you ask me. I didn't mention it because I figured they 'technically' hadn't broken any rules. Even...

i need major major help with alkalinity! please read

Just doing water changes and adding calcium may be fine for your tank, but it may not. It's impossible to predict what additives any particular tank will need, because every tank is different. Same lights, same tank, same filtration, but different corals will cause the calcium uptake to be...

    Description for Mr Guerrero

Acropora and clams either require a MH light, or an exteme amount of PC lamps that you'll have to replace every 6-8 months. 72w isn't enough. Elegance corals have a truly abysmal survival rate. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... did=310425 Seaclone skimmers usually requre...

need a chiller .... pls help

The problem with the iceprobes is they don't fit in a nanocube well. You have to be able to drill a hole for them and few people are willing to do that. You can drill a small hob filter and add it, but then trying to diy your hood to fit the hob filter is a hassle. B

Adding more fish to my 13 g???

You should easily be able to add a couple more fish. Stay away from other basslets and dottybacks and the gramma should be fine. Clownfish, firefish, gobies, blennies, etc... will all be fine. B

Interesting Fish Behaviour for a 12g

They've got a horrible survival rate even in larger aquariums. If you can find a pair that will actively hit on flake/frozen/prepared you have a better chance. Normally they won't touch it, and get all their food by sifting algae/small critters out of the sandbed. But they're active enough to...

Im new and have a lighting question

Bubble corals - yes. Bubble anemones, yes but you'll need to change your lights every 6-8 months. Montis - probably. Acros - no. There are quite a few threads here on the mods that folks have done to add lighting. Nanocustoms.com is probably one of the best places to look at for...

Nano 24 tank newbie. How do you turn off the lights??

Yep, you need live rock. I've cycled all my tanks with the lights off, until my water tested zero for everything, then started my photoperiod at about 6hrs and increased it from there by 1hr a week. I also added fish very slowly. B

    Bubbling skimmers

Strange...My boss has one in his 18g. It's been in there nearly a year, and it works great. He was actually very surprised since it was a $40 skimmer. B

    18g Setup with many questions

You may not want to put a plexi lid on it. If you cut your evaporation down too much your tank may overheat, depending on your lights. I'm not sure which tank you're messing with, the 18g, or the 10g, or both, or what you decided on for lights for either of them...Man this thread got...

    LIGHTING SCHEDULE????

Not as long as your corals are doing well. Here's my schedule copied from another thread.

    quick question about ph

Check your calcium, alk, pH, are all sort of related. A low magnesium level can cause them to bounce around. If one is up too high usually one or both of the others is a bit low. Honestly the best way to deal with one of them being seriously high, is through a couple large water changes...

    Underwater feeder

Very nice. I haven't really used the hat method yet. I just found it was to hard to get a 'hat' that was large enough to fit over the coral in the tank around the aquascaping. I obviously need a much larger tank so that I can arrange a larger empty sandbed to put them on. B

    fans

Yep. The voltages match which is good, and the miliamps used by both fans doesn't exceed the output of the adapter. B
