Clowns are known to host all sorts of things, mine prefer the powerhead! Keep an eye on the shroom to make sure that it isn't getting irratated(some will, some won't), if you notice it is then try placing the shroom in a location that the clown can't get to. Glad your clown is happy!

It is a diatom bloom and expected in a new tank. I agree with following Sadies advice :D

I've got peppermints and haven't noticed any problems with them to date. Sadie and Jessie are right though, you need to ease up on the bioload and invest in some test kits. As long as you yourself are testing your water, you have a bit more control over how it maintains itself.
