    Mike's new Pico....

I have been using one of those thermometers in my 92 gal. corner tank for several months and just added one to my nanocube. I really like them and have comapared their readings with an electronic pencil type thermometer I have and they seem to be accurate. They almost seem as though they were...

    Unknown Creatures on Glass

Hydroids are a type of jellyfish and the only place I have ever heard of them being a problem is in a tank with dwarf seahorses, they sting the SHs and can kill the babies. One of the cures I have heard of being used for them was a liquid wormer called Panacur. Before I tried to do any...

    Yellow Cucumber

I had one in my 75 before, they are kinda neat when you can see them but they aren't really worth putting in your tank. Mine tended to stay hidden someplace out of sight, as long as they can get food they are happy and don't care if you can see them or not. Skip

    Heaters???

I use a heater in all of my tanks, partly to help prevent excessive temperature swings and also because I keep the heat in the house set fairly low (partly because I am hot natured and partly because I am cheap).

    Mike's new Pico....

Mike, Check out these heaters, they are only 6 inches long and quite thin. I have one in my 12DX and it hasn't given me any trouble at all (I used to have it in a 2 1/2 gallon dwarf seahorse tank). Here is a link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... 2004+22787 . HTH, Skip

    Mike's new Pico....

Mike, If I am not mistaken those heaters have no thermostat and put out a contant amount of heat whether it is needed or not, this could cause heat problems during the day when combined with the heat from your lights. ne of the hagen thermal compacts is the best choice as far as I know, it has...

    92 watt Larnie Edition...

I think it looks great, especially since he has 3 of my favorite things in there, a yellow clown gobie, green frogspawn (favorite LPS), and a blue clam (I like any of the clams as long as they are a pretty blue). I have a little of the diatom thing going in my tank right now too so I know how...

    I have a new tank!

I bought some long tweezers and scissors from www.drsfostersmith.com , they are listed in the coral propogating supplies. They work better than hemostats IME. I also had to make a glass cleaner for my tank because everything I already had just seemed to big and awkward. I took a 2" foam...

    new pic of my 60

Your reef looks great! Is that one of the 60s that is basically a pair of 30s end to end (6 feet long)? What are the lights you are running on the tank currently?

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

I am very glad to see you posting about this tank, I think it may be my next project (I love the 12DX so I think I would really like the 6). I am curious about your opinion on the lights, are they adequate or do you think they should be upgraded and if so does it appear to be an easy task to...

My first nano (6 liters - galon and half)

You are multi talented, that is one great looking nano. I thought it was much bigger until I saw the pic of the refugium construction with the pencil in it. You should be very proud of that tank. Skip

    getting closer to water

Your doing a good job, remain patient. There is a saying that the only thing that happens fast in a reeftank is disaster. There is also the old saying that good things come to those that wait. From the looks of your set-up so far I would say a very nice tank is in your future.

What kind of chemicals need to be added to a nano reef?

That all depends on your tank and the water used in it. If you are using RO water and don't overstock you can probably keep up with all of your tanks needs with small, weekly water changes. To see about needing to add anything you will need to test to check the levels. HTH, Skip
