anyone doing anything cool for Christmas?

I get off of work the morning of Christmas Eve and go back the day after, I don't have any plans yet. I don't have any family close by so I have no idea yet what I'll be getting into.

New to the page. Here's my 4 gallon.

You scored some great looking zzos, when they gow to fill the spaces in that is going to be an awsome display (possibly a future contest winner?). You definately have some sanding ahead of you, LOL. That should end up looking very smooth after its painted. Keep the updates coming, Skip

    refugium

I have drilled several tanks using the method described but the last tank I drilled I used this bit to smooth the edges out and it was alot easier and made a cleaner hole. Here is a link to the type of bit I am talking about: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/D ... mber=32155 . HTH, Skip

    these lights

How long have they been burning? I think all bulbs can change color a bit after they burn in for about 100 hours of actual burn time. It is hard to "see" what color a bulb is from a pic, especially if there is a flash involved. You are the main one who has to like the color, as long as the...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

I know what you mean about the nanos being addictive, I have a 75 similar to yours and a 92 gallon corner tank but I have fallen in love with nanotanks. I have a 6 and 12 gallon nanocube and I am in the process of setting a standard 10 up with a 96 watt PC over it. Skip

    Lighting 1.5g Hex

I would also stick to polyps, mushrooms, ricordia, and softies. There is too much of a chance that any SPS put in there would either not survive or just hang in there and turn brown. Stick with the less light demanding corals and I think you'll be much happier in the long run. If the tank you...

    octo??

They are also reputed to be escape artists and I think one would just push the feeding door open. If you really want to keep one I would go with a larger tank and cover it with a glass top, it is my understanding that any small opening in the tank an octopus can squeeze through it and escape.

Good looking DIY. I was also interested in the MH link that you gave, I will have to bookmark it for future use. Don't worry too much about the excess epoxy, coralline will have in covered before too long. Keep the pics and progress reports coming. Skip

    DE UV GLASS...

Does it have to be the size you mentioned or do you have a little room to adjust the glass? One option I just thought about was automotive glass, The sliding glass from a pickups rear window should work if you can accomodate the size. All automotive glass is tempered and I am pretty sure its...

    Bakpak 2R or Remora skimmer

I have used both of them but prefer the Remora mostly because it is alot quieter plus I am not a fan of Rio powerheads. I have the Remora with the MaxiJet 1200. With a 20 long either skimmer will hang below the back of the tank so if the tank sits on a table where the skimmer couldn't hang...

    DE UV GLASS...

If I remember correctly the earths atmosphere filters out much of the UV radiation, thats one of the things that makes the hole in the ozone layer a big thing. Do you have the room to move a regular piece of glass a little further from the bulb to help cut down on the heating issue? Another...

Setting up a small Nano Tank

The RO filter you linked to is for city water only so if you have well water this will not work. It is a bare bones type filter and you could get by with this but the RO/DI is a better filter. If you begin looking at RO membranes you will see that they usually have something like an 85 or 90%...
