thanks guys Yes Dickie my hands were full I failed to mention that the hammer is bright green and I can not seem to capture it in a photo I havent added chemi clean yet I still may need to in the near future

These fish are known agressive that would pretty much require species only. They also require over filtering and possibly skimming . They will prey on all shrimps and crabs as well as most if not all of the snails they will require stuff with hard shells to trim their beaks (teeth) they also...

After careful planning and (tons of fustration with red slime) set up of a kitchen table and equipment in the livingroom , I was ready for the dreaded tear down .... I had everything ready , new sand new water mixed for 24 hours and the salt added then mixed again for an addtional 24 hours...

oops did not think of that before sorry but I will have before and after the rescape and the cleaning :mrgreen:

I dont think you will have a problem with the sand , most sands will be fine , if still arent sure what brand of sand do you have ?

Sugar Dont they make an aquarium grade of that stuff in black ? Do you think that it would break down as well as salt is a bit on the harsher side? this is the stuff I was thinking of but I am pretty sure I saw it some where else that said it was aquarium safe but I can not find where I saw...

It certianly looks like an egg sack , usually they will be eatin hopefully others with more experience can chim in here for you ....and advise you what to do sorry I wasent of more help

It is possible to be pregnant but with out pictures it is hard to be absolutely sure ...it is possible to raise them in captivity and may not be possible to successfully raise them they may become fish food unfortunatly hopefully others will have input HTH :mrgreen:

The stuff I run has the carbon in a sponge type thing I run both the carbon filled pads as well as the chemi-pure :mrgreen:

It shouldnt do any thing to the tank , it is mainly for looks and to stablize the rock it also gives space for the benifical bacteria to grow :mrgreen:

I am not sure that I am understanding your question completly but , I would just continue using the stuff that is for your filter. As I stated earlier I run th packs made for my hob and add a unit chemi-pure behind the filter pak .
