Somebody posted on another site, a pic of a zoa or anemone similar to this but brown in colour a couple of months ago. Not sure of the final answer. I remember at the time that I responded that mine had not multiplied and I didn't think that they could be a threat. Well I have since been...

    NEW BIOCUBE 14

Do you already keep seahorses and don't test? I heard that they were hard to keep. Oh, testing, you probable should just play it by ear at the moment. You pretty much already know that the cycle will be long and stinky so I would just keep up the water changes and maybe in a couple of...

Water movement, light and temp Question

you can add more live rock whenever you want. It will have to cycle of course but it's all part of the process. Depending where you live, rain water is a much better option. Tap water us usually not safe for reef aquariums and will generally cause lots of different problems. The...

Water movement, light and temp Question

Can you start a thread in the Pico 2.5 and under section. That way you can ask all of your questions and everyone (including yourself) can keep track of the progress from start to finish. Check out my links for clarification. Ok, I think that will be enough water movement, I actually...

DIY Sump for a JBJ 28Gal HQI

If you contact the manufacturer and ask if the glass is normal float glass, you will be fine to drill. If you want to buy the bits, there is a person on ebay that sells them for like $6. I used them and was really impressed.

    NEW BIOCUBE 14

oooww. Ok, if it is already in, Maybe try puttin all of the bad rocks on the bottom and don't have the lights of for the next week or so. That will at least help out with the algae. Do you have any test kits? If so keep an eye on your water quality, otherwise look to 20% water changes...

    New 2 1/2 Gallon

I speak in celcius and the metric system. Do a conversion on google. I keep my tank at 24-26 Celcius and maximum, worst case 28C. Do you have climate control. Heat is a killer for corals. A fan blowing on the water will help.

    NEW BIOCUBE 14

I can't really tell without seeing it or smelling it. If it smells bad, then it is. Maybe just take out the really bad stuff and see what happens, you will probably have another cycle. At least get off the bulk of the algae.

    New 2 1/2 Gallon

Old reefers say that a third of the tank volume should be Live Rock, others say 2 thirds. You could definately have more. Everything you see on your rocks was alive when you bought it. Most will survive the cycle. Most sponges, bi-valves and lots of micro stuff will not. It's nothing...
