it could be a type of xenia I have seen it with out the stalk , it could also be green star polyps , but from the brown discription I am lead to believe that it is a cluster duster all are harmless . As reefman says with out pictures it is hard to ID . Here is a picture of them in our tank for...

wait till your tests drop to 0 ammonia will raise then drop to 0 nitrIte will raise then drop to 0 nitrAte will raise then drop probably not to zero (small ammonts are ok and are combated from going sky hi with water changes and filtration, limiting the food and live stock will help as well...

this is the light we use we got it from ebay for 20 bucks and we really like it it flips up for maintinance as well Hope this helps :mrgreen:

Sounds like a good deal to me . Here in Pa we would pay close 500 for the tank and another 500-600 for the light (if we ordered it from them ) and that doesnt include the sump or other things for a reef tank . The question that you must ask your self is what are they running in your area new...

I think that if you let it go it would be best they will spread on their own , as for splitting I am not sure how it is done I think it has something to do with cutting the stem and attaching and a new one will grow out of the cutting but I am ABSOLUTELY NOT SURE you will need to wait for some...
