If you haven't put water in the tank yet, I'd take it back and get a 30g oceanic cube instead. Lots of folks have been having problems with the 24g cubes cracking for no apparent reason. There are several threads about it over nano-reef.com. B

I tried to do a similar thing in my 55g where I'd leave an area in the center of the tank clear and have the rock slope up on either side. I found it was just too narrow of a tank to do it effectively. When I upgraded to the 75 I was much more successful, but I still have a bit less open...

Unfortunatel this is why most people don't keep macro algaes in their display tanks, unless it's a large tank and they have tangs that will keep it under control. Your best choices are gonna be to find someone with a larger tank with a fuge, and just trade them your calerpa rock for some bare...

All of my tanks have a 2-3in sandbed. I don't really feel the need to have anything much deeper than that. If you're happy with the way it looks, you should be fine. Oh yeah...pics, pics, pics! :-) B

You shouldn't be adding anything you don't have a test kit for. Otherwise it's easy to get things out of balance. My work nano hasn't had anything added to it except food since I started it nearly a year ago. The weekly 1g water change has been enough to keep things healthy and thriving...

Not really. The 96w quad fixtures are 20". A standard 5.5g is 16"x8"x10". A 96w quad retro is 18.5", but even that'll hang over the sides quite a bit. B

They're a good sign. No a clown won't eat them. There's really no reason to remove them, unless you just don't like them for some reason. They're harmless, and decent detrivores. A six line wrasse will gobble them up. B

This really isn't meant to bash oceanic. Some day in the future I expect to be buying a couple of their big ones. Heck, my 75g and 40g, are both older, used, oceanic tanks. I don't know of any other company out there that gives you any warranty on the tanks. And hopefully I"m posting enough...

Yep you'll need a UV shield. All DE MH bulbs need them. One of the LFS fried their display tank when one of the shields got broken while someone was replacing the bulb. The kid figured it was just a splash guard and didn't mention it cause the lights were nearly 20" over the tank. Next...
