Flat worms....how do I get rid of them if they are bad?

Be careful Erik. If you use the FWE for a long period, they can become resistant to it. Have yoy tried to remove as many as you can and then administering a double-dose? It worked great that way for me and I believe others here have done it that way too. Jesse

Flat worms....how do I get rid of them if they are bad?

Ignoring them depends on the variety. The white ones arent necessarily a problem, however the red ones should be treated. Jesse

    My first reef tank

Cool tank. We dont see many BB tanks on nanotank.com. Be careful with that xenia too... try to keep it confined to the one rock. Once it spreads, it can get pretty crazy! I have two different varieties in my tank and have managed to keep it in check. Jesse

Sweet tanks. As far as the lighting goes, the different color temps do not need different type ballasts. What he may be referring to is the difference between double-ended and single-ended bulbs. they can both be ran off of an electronic ballast, but you get better output on a DE bulb...

That's it! Special grade reef sand. Man, that 270 is tall!! It is going to be difficult to get light down to the bottom. If you wanted that tank to be a full reef, you would almost have to go with 400 watt MH's. Otherwise, 250 watters would allow to keep a variety of medium-light corals...

Check this one out... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 004+113761 I think they are very much worth it. These are actually MORE accurate than refractometers and less expensive too... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 004+113761 HTH, Jesse

    Adjusting Salinity - 24G Aquapod

First off, how was your salinity measured? Since you mentioned your LFS, I am assuming it was done using a refractometer. If you are sure it is an accurate reading, I would remove about 1/2 gallon and replace it with freshwater R/O. Like you said, just repeat this every day until you get it...

Is there anywhere for some mechanical filtration media to filter out the detritus? In the meantime, you should be able to use some airline tubing or other small diam tubing to siphon it out. Jesse

Quick question on Blastomussa Merletti and acanthastrea lord

24" tall is a little deep for PC's, but I think that they would be fine. they are a deeper water species and arent necessarily a high-light coral. You can supplement their diet with small krill or brine shrimp. HTH, Jesse ps. if anything, just move them towards the top of the tank.

    Jesse's 20L+20L fuge...

According to www.zoaid.com, they would be called "Zombie eyes"... The new gold centered one would be called "Kiwi krush" The blue with green skirts would be "Blueberry fields forever". Kinda cool to know that there is a name for them. Jesse

Ca overdose can lead to precipitate, iodine can be very toxic if overdosed. If you overdose things like filter feeder foods, you can get excess nutrients that can lead to algae etc. Jesse
