    My pico

This is hands down one of the nicest tanks featured on our site. Great job! One can tell just from looking at the pics and reading through your posts, you really know what you are doing. I've got lots of questions too, but for now I'll just keep staring at your photos. :thumb: ps...

Lurking in Nano-Reef find NanoTank comment....

Thanks for pointing that out Mike. This Garf guy didn't even register at our site (at least not with that username) so I don't know what he's referring to. He must of looked at just one post and made a very opinionated statement. It he were to read through just a little section of our...

    Great Idea

Yeah, FinAddict is a good one. I found that store last week. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff with a good coral selection. I will def. be checking that place out again. I guess I'm just spoiled coming from Houston. Maast.org is how I found FinAddict. There are only a handful of...

Pic of the week --- Shrimp

My new avatar is from the movie Napoleon Dynamite. If you haven't seen it, you should. It is one of the weirdest yet strangely entertaining movies I've ever seen. It doesn't really make you laugh..its more of a 'what the hell is this movie about' thing. Hard to explain.

The theme of this month's contest is for you to show us your best crab photo. There are numerous crab species out there so you will need to get creative with this one. What a free moonlight???

That is awesome. Sometimes things just work out like that. I've recently started up a 10 gal propagation tank. I went all over the place to find a stock AGA hood for the screw in coralife bulbs and petsmart was the only place I could find it. It said $32 on the shelf. I took it to the...

    Float Switch Question

You guys might be assuming everyone knows this but don't you replace the water that has been evaporated with regular water first and then do your SW water change. Your salinity would be all off track if you always replaced the evap. water with SW weekly right? Just making sure.

    Help!

Good idea with water change. It can only help. Remember to test before you dump the newly-made water in the tank. Could be something weird with the windmill water like maybe the technician has been slacking or something. Let us know how it goes. [-o<

Want to upgrade, is this enough?

The way I would look at it is its almost 3 times what you used to have which is a huge improvement. I have 64 PC watts over my 5.5 but that isn't the norm. In case you were wondering, I still haven't had any heat issues with the tank and I live in Texas. Matter of fact, I just bought a...

New week at Aquarank - please vote for Nanotank!

Thanks for voting Mike, I still find it hard to believe that some of those sites have like 118 votes by Tuesday. They clear all the votes on Sunday and start over so its really only been 2.5 days with 118 votes! That is crazy. My goal is always to stay on the front page, ranked at least #25...

    Water Storage

I believe its just a natural bacteria rather than a contaminant simply becasue most of our containers aren't airtight. Also, the chlorine is taken out of the water so it's more suspectible to bacterial growth.

    2.5 update

Another cause for concern - just off the top of my head, was that all the livestock was added quite quickly (or all at once). This rapidly increased your bioload/waste in the system. What are your nitrate readings?

    LFS visits with pics

No crap. You really do put a lot of work into all of it. Have any of the LFS owners ever said 'thanks' for doing what you do or have they ever cut you a nice deal b/c you attracted customers? I've always wondered how they react when you come in to their store and start snapping away. Cich1...

    Help!

Have you lost any corals yet? All your parameters seem okay. What is your alk reading? I'd aim for about 1.023 for salinity but I don't think that is the problem. I'd wait another day or so then just do a massive water change (40-70%). Test your made-up water before you change it out...

    Water Storage

I keep my RO/DI water in 5 gallon buckets for up to a month and I've never had a problem. Every once and awhile, I give the bucket/jug a good shake. I do get that slime occasionally as well so I just wipe it and rinse it out before my next refill. Bottom line, you should be good for up to a...
