    Environmental Instructor...

This may or may not be feasible but we could try to incorporate part of this webiste into your course. Maybe a few of the students could post their essays and findings on the site under a special post (Mike G's Environmental Essays)...simple cut and paste. The essays that deal specifically...

    Environmental Instructor...

Hey Mike, Your new job sounds cool. A few topics that might work just off the top of my head: The importance of controlled water (fertilizer) run-off into our oceans and reef habitats. Discuss the need for education and the pros/cons of limiting fertilizers in sensitive reef areas. How will...

Kent, Seachem, & Ocean's Blend are a few that come to mind. Buffer is basically just baking soda but we can get into that in another discussion sometime down the road. Just stick with a name brand and follow the directions and you can't go wrong. Add a little bit at a time and test...repeat.

    Disappearing Snails

I find empty turbo snail shells all the time at the bottom of my tanks. I think they just die easier than most snail species. I've heard that before from other reefers.

    RedSea Aqua Vase Update

More power...I like that. I've got two questions for ya. 1.) Have you ever considered putting a 50/50 7w bulb in there? When I help my fiancee redo hers, we will do that and maybe upgrade to a 13w clip on lamp with a 50/50. 2). I saw a thread somewhere else where the guy trimmed down...

    Yellow Leather coral

Sounds to me like its dying if it is black in color. I'd take it out and smell it. If it smells foul, its dying. :( Get ready for a water change.

    Nano Tank Questions

Yes, lets make it very clear that water top-offs, from evaporation, should be done with RO/DI water and not saltwater. This will really mess up your salinity.

    Lighting schedule in my 5.5

I run noon to midnight (12hrs) on all my tanks including my 5.5 but that might be slightly more than most reefers. I've always done it that way...

    Gunk in the sand bed...

Yeah, I just start the suction with my mouth and put the bucket below the tank. Get old gravity workin for ya. I have different size tubing for different tanks. The tube for my 20 gal has pretty big diameter, say about .5", and the tube for my 2.5 is pretty small.
