Take the prawn out... there is no need for it. The LR has more than enough bacteria to get your biological cycle going. Jesse

    Feeding fish

I feed my clown and watchman goby 3-5 times a week. I hand feed both of them Ocean Nutrition Brine Shrimp Plus, a mix of frozen mysis/cyclop-eeze, small pieces of raw shrimp/squid/oysters (available at your local grocery store), even tiny pieces of brocolli for my clown (a little trick I...

I would remove some of the water from your tank and put it in a bucket, mix the salt thoroughly in the bucket, then add it back to the tank. Let us know how it goes. Jesse

Are you sure you dont have a leak that you are compensating with RO water? That is one of the only reasons I could see for a drop in salinity. Are the bubbles comping out of your rock or off of algae? Sometimes some algaes givve off gas bubbles. Jesse

    Lighting

How tall is the tank? I think everyone on here knows by now that I am a big spporter of T5 lighting and Sunlight Supply makes a good 24" fixture. If the tank is rather short, you could go with a 24" PC filxture. Current USA makes a Satellite and an Orbit fixture which are both tried-and-true...

    falling apart...

Sorry to hear that Brandon. Sometimes life gets tough. It is hard losing your first love. Sometimes things happen for a reason. That reason is not usually known until later in life. I know it may not seem like it now, but things WILL get better. My parents got divorced right when I...

    Jesse's 20L SPS tank

Thanks guys. I tested the Scripp's water before I did a 10g water change yesterday and the test results sort of surprised me. Here are the results: Mg= 1,260 dKH= 7.68 Ca= 380 So I made the proper adjustments to the Scripp's water and did the water change. I just tested my tank... a little...

:welcome to nanotank.com! You shouldnt be running the lights while the tank is cycling other than to view the tank. The only real way to find out how long or when the cycle will end is to test your tank. You are going to want nitrate, nitrite and ammonia test kits. This will allow you to...

    Quarantine for Zoa frags...

I dont usually quarantine my zoas... although it is a great thing to do. I do, however, dip ANYTHING that goes into my tank, especially zoas. I follow Muchoreef's dip from reefcentral.com and it works great: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... did=451720 HTH, Jesse

    Jesse's 20L SPS tank

Thanks guys! John, I'll ask the guy at my LFS. He fragged the colony and I'll find out where he gets his plugs. I believe this is from either HIS personal tank or a friend's tank. Here is a picture of the plug if it helps... Ive seen that rainbow online and it is pretty darn nice...

It is because they are grazers and generally cannot find enough food ina small nano tank to do well long-term. They can also be finicky (spelling??) eaters as well. Jesse

    PH Levels

Which salt mix are you using? You may want to try one that has a higher pH. Otherwise, I use Seachem's Reef Buffer. But like you said, that can cause the pH to rise as well. What is the temp of the replacement water when you test the pH? Jesse

    Jesse's 20L SPS tank

Man I am lousy at keeping secrets. I planned on posting this after the tank progressed more, but I have already told a couple of you, so I decided to just go ahead and start a new thread for my tank as it is going in a new direction. I have made the decision to switch over to an...
