I wanna do it myself lighting.

Agreed... T5HO or MH. Happy clams need stabilty too like Aaron said... a small tank can be very tricky to keep stable enough especially with the extra evap you will get with the inreased lighting. Jesse

    Skimmer Fo 24g Nano

The fissions are a waste of time and money. Really an aweful invention. Skimmer are not necessary although they can be very beneficial. Regular weekly water changes along with a good carbon like Black Diamond would be a must if you werent using a skimmer. Jesse

Max-jet pumps for frag tank: How many? Gph? Wavemaker?

I would probably go with a Tunze nanostream. It would be good flow and cost less than buying 4 powerheads. The flow is distributed very well so there wouldnt be any areas of strong direct flow like with a maxi-jet. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... uct=TZ1211 Jesse

Appropiate fish for a 29 Tank.

Correct, somewhere around 1-1.5 pbs per gallon is usally a good estimate. This varies however with certain kinds of rock that may be more or less porous. Jesse

I wanna do it myself lighting.

Only normal output (NO) T5's come in sizes that will fit over that tank. T5HO (high output) come in 24" and larger. That being said, MH is probably your best choice for you selections. HOWEVER, I have to state my opinion here. Skip the anemone. It isnt a practical choice for that size...

29 gallon Biocube (protein skimmer vs refug)

I would say that a skimmer would be a much better use for that space. If you had a larger volume that could be better lit I would say the refugium would be a good choice. You have to also consider that they accomplish two different things though so OVERALL you cannot say which is better than...
