Coralife 96W fixture and 10 gallon mixed reef

If the XM is a 20,000k lamp, you may want to choose a different lamp. The XM 20,000k is one of the lowest output lamps out there. That being said, the Aquamedic pendant is sweet and would be the way to go if you wanted to try SPS. Remember though that lighting is the easiest part of keeping...

AquaMedic 9 gallon Nano Wave, reviews?

I would just question the effectivness of the skimmer and also the tank is rather shallow from front to back which can make it a little difficult to aquascape. Aqua-medic is generally a good brand though. Jesse

    My 46 Bowfront 3-14-07

Nice pictures. I suggest that you get that crocea closer up to the lighting. That is a long distance for that 150 watter to penetrate. Jesse

New tank with algae and coral problems

I apoligize if it seems your post was being ignored... sometimes it does take a day or two on a smaller site like this. Other than that, I think JOhn covered it pretty well. Jesse

    Belligerent blenny

This is exactly how I got one of my croceas from Edgray... his bicolor was picking at the mantle. For him, it was easier to take the clam out than it was to catch the blenny. Hope you can figure out a way to get the blenny out. Jesse **edit** If this clam is under the stock lighting in...

    Blennies, Gobies.....

I have a YWG and I wouldnt consider him a sand-sifting goby. He only really sifts the sand when he is hungry. I agree that nssarius snails would be your best bet. Jesse

OLD DEAD and DRIED Live Rock...?

I agree with Trogdor, but I would also scrub it really well with a brush to get off as much of the leftover dead materials as possible. Jesse

    Acrylic or Glass?

I actually got an acrylic 40B and started cleaning it up a bit. I found little scratched here and there, then I think I scratched it in the process, then I began to think about the time and effort it would take to buff it out and just didnt want to go down that road. I ended up selling it and...

    Refugium Question

Usually reverse lighting schedule is the best... most macros require a "rest period" and it will also help to keep a more stable pH. Jesse

    Water changes...........

I personally suggest smaller, more frequent water changes as opposed to larger less frequent changes. I used to do about 30% every two weeks or so, but I have recently gotten in the habit of doing a 1g change everyday. So far it is working very well for me. There have been studies done... and...
