    Bristle worms

There are traps that you can make that they might fall for. I've never used one so I can't say if they work or not. If they are just bristle worms then they shouldn't harm anything unless they get rather large.

    29g Trogdor's Paradise

Just to add an update. Coral growth is going well. I started with 1 red mushroom in April and now have 4. Xenia has expanded along with the green star polyps. I've decided that I'm not going to totally fill this tank full of coral and just let the frags that I have grow out. While I love...

    Sumps/bioload clarification, stock selection help

I'll try and answer some of these to the best of my knowledge. What you will/have found is that there are 1,000,001 ways to run a tank. You have to find what works best in your tank(s) because what works in someone's may not work in yours. First step is to take a look at this guide. It has...

    24G My first saltwater tank

I believe that is cyanobacteria. It will darken to a reddish color as the day goes on. I have never found a cure for cyano, other than letting it run its course. When I got it in my tank, I just blasted it off the rocks with a turkey baster and let my filter suck it up. You will want to do...

    24G My first saltwater tank

pH is a finicky thing to measure. it can go up and down during the day. it is affected by temperature and maybe salinity. I would shoot for a general number close to 8.2 or get a pH buffer that will take it to 8.2. The problem is when you go to test it again, it could change slightly. pH in...

    Hi I'm new

the swing arm hydros tend to collect salt residue and can stick, causing false measurements. I used to have a glass float hydrometer and got a refractometer about 5 months ago and they are so accurate. You can read within 0.0005 and they will last a lifetime. I would drop the $40 on one if...

    24G My first saltwater tank

If you plan to use tap, you will want to get a water sample report. Your water company should have them readily available. If tap water is suitable, it can be used. I've been running tap on my tank for about 7 months now and everything that i test for is good. I agree with drty on...

    New tank(s)

if it's just fish in the tank you can wait for a few days to fix it. If you have coral you will want to get it fixed asap.

    Thread for coral

Q1. Normally you don't glue coral to the glass. You can use the superglue gel and glue them to the rocks. The SG Gel is waterproof and will cure underwater. Very handy. Q2. You can remove most adhesives on glass with a flat razor blade. An exacto knife might work but the razor knife...

    Thread for coral

do you typically put down superglue gel under something like a leather? I have used the gel on rics and button polyps and it has worked well but not sure on the leather.

    Thread for coral

I have heard that you can tie down coral with thread. What is the best type to use? Cotton? Fishing line?...etc. I have a finger leather that I need to move rocks due to aptasia outbreak on the rock that its on and trying to find a way to hold it down.

    Plate coral or frogspawn

I would go with the 150w HQI . You will never doubt if it is enough light. As for clown hosting, I have xenia, frogspawn and a ricordia (among other corals)...they prefer the ricodia over everything else. Not sure why but they do. It wasn't immediate either, they have been in the tank with...

    coralline algae

For some reason I was thinking it was a 70g tank. In a nano, you should be able to get enough calcium with new water that it will keep your levels high enough.

    MH lighting question

You might want to fire it up outside if you paint it with the paint that Jesse recommended. It will probably smoke a bit the first time it's fired up after you paint it.

it should work. just be sure to get a new bulb that fits the socket. I would be sure to get some kind of cover to protect the bulb from splashing too.
