I know what you mean erik, I bought a six line wrasse about the same size and it looks pretty huge in my tank. Nice fish though, I haven't seen one in anyone else's tank yet. I might of over read but what type of bulb are you using for your MH set up?

i dont do anything special for them, they feed when i feed the tank. i have kept them with great success.
Same here. Nothing special. If he comes out when I am feeding, I will give him a flake or two... or three. He will readily and almopst aggressivly feed from your hand.

well here are the pics of my canopy mod, modded a JBJ K-2 viper 70w MH 14k fixture into it. its definitly barbarick, just a temperary mod. i installed it this way because i wanted to see if i could get away from a heat issue. mounting it on hte outside of my canopy will let the heat rise instead of heating up the water and air inside the canopy. only time will tell, will keep updated on the situation.

this pics is of the window opening for the light....

i traced the head of the fixture......

after an hour of routering with my dremel tool.....

its recessed about half a inch.....

with two PC bulbs, 50/50 and dual actinic.....

well after 6 hours with the MH on, my water temp only went up to 81.5*. which i can totally live with two degrees over that time. ill have a fan hooked up to a controller in the summer months, maybe two.

12cm ball bearing computer fans with a speed contol switch would probably be ideal for this job. you could turn the speed down for a quiet operation and turn them up in the summer for more oompf. Glad everything worked out.

WOW mod looks really nice well done ERIK and well ill agree with TIM on summer or if later on you experience high temps just use some comp fans blowing the water and temp will drop you'll see i have 2 fans to turn at same time as MH get on with timer and temp stays same with a .4 degree rise thats it ... (fans located in feeding door of my nanocube ) my temps stays at night 76.4 and during the day running 5 hours the MH temps goes to 76.9 being 77 the highest so not that swing in temp ... fans blowing to water works like a charm.....

at this time i dont have any fans running.....dialed my heater in and all day my temp has stayed at 79.5*. windows closed, room temp. a comfortable 65*. this summer with teh heat we had, the highest my tank got 84* w/o fan. i live on great lake erie so the breeze off the lake blows right through my room w/ both windows open. hope fully i dotn need a fan anytime soon.

well i have two PC's, took the third out to fit MH. with all three running its bright and kind of white. so i turned off the 50/50 and left the dual actinic on w/ the MH. perfect just where i like it. very little blue, but not to much.......just enough to make those colors pop out. the MH alone doesnt do it for me, i buy the colors to see them. they are there but not defined enough, without the actinics.
