Thanks for the post Skipm,

I also love that shot from the blue tang. I've taken literally hundreds of pictures from fish before and it’s so hard for the camera to capture a sharp image from their constant motion. I got lucky with some shots this weekend and wanted to share them with you guys. Especially the six line wrasse, who is a swimming machine and 99% of the time, comes out blurry. ;-)

Guys,

After over a whole month w/out a controller, due to a replacement for my ReefKeeper 1 unit, as an exchange for Digital Aquatics new release unit, today I finally got my hands on the NEW ReefKeeper 2 controller.

This unit features pH and temperature measurement & control, digital timers, wavemaker, feed mode and fan/chiller control on 8 programmable channels, which helps me monitor and control the tank with a lot more flexibility and keeps my temperature more stable than ever.

It's too soon to give any type of feedback, but within a couple of days I'll have a better idea about RK2's performance.

Here are some pictures from the new unit...

Also I was finaly able to capture a decent shot of my tank with all the house lights off and only my moonlights on.
By setting the shutter speed to 4.0 seconds and the aperture at f/3.9 the camera could capture a better light exposure.

looks very sleek, I love the new look and design. How much did you pay and where at?

Do reefkeepers work with small nanos such as mine?

Okay,

I'm jealous, I want your RK2. Dragon, don't you remember I ran two of them in both my nano cubes.

Hey since I fly down next week, how about I bring you my RK1 you give me 100 bucks, they are 219 brand new.

I still have the box like mint, you know I keep all my goodies nice.

Then I pay the difference and copy Andre? Sounds like a plan. Sign me up for one Andre, Dragon will be the proud owner of one for his 6 gallon cube. hehehehe

I don't think he'll go for it but it was worth a try...

I need to do a cleanup on his system when I go down next weel.

The ReefKeeper 2 will definitely work with your NC6 w/out a doubt. The unit sell for $270 and you can purchase the pH probe from Digital Aquatics for $47 or choose from other different brands as well.

Mike had a ReefKeeper 1 unit hooked up to his NC12 and I think he'll be able to give you a good feedback on how the unit will perform with the Nanos.

The new controller also supports manual override, the lights can now be programmed to turn off when the temperature exceeds a set value, and there are two relays best used for light ballasts and high current devices.

Here is a link with more info on this particular unit:
http://www.digitalaquatics.com/reefkeeper_2.htm

P.S. I'm sure you guys will be able to work something out. The trade sounds like a killer deal.
100 bucks for a RK1 controller!!! I personally wouldn't think twice about it.

What can I say :):):)

I have one myself and I LOVE IT. ;-)
Besides if that's really the case, for that price tag Mike will sell that unit in NO time, which is more than a bargain for that controller.

I'll keep you guys posted on the RK2 performance...

Once I go down to LA next week it will be time to help dragon spend some of that nice tax return money. hehehe

I'd love to get the RK2 but the RK1 for my purpose is working great, I figured out the reseting issue, works like a charm once again.

I have already a PH controller so the RK2 would overlap my stuff so it's more jealous that your lights are blue and mine are green. hehehe

If I could do it over I'd have the RK2 it's just killer.

MG

P.S
Rk2 would be overkill for a nano cube 6, you don't inject C02 into your tank. Rk1 would be perfect trust me....

You certainly have a point there Mike.

I was really happy w/ my RK1 too, and the only reason I replaced that unit, is because got lucky to be within the 30 day trial period, and DA took the trade w/ no problem.
I was going to get a pH monitor anyway and Digital Aquatics just happened to release RK2 just in time.

Ed,

The milwaukee SMS 122 is a great purchase and is extremely reliable in my opinion. Plus is a fraction of the cost of the pinpoints.

Thank you so much for the comments guys.

Here are some picts taken today. The tank is now 14 weeks old.
The Mexican turbo snails have been eating all the algae and it's totally under control now.
The tank is finally starting stabilize and things are looking better as the environment matures.
Now I can concentrate on looking for some new frags and corals, as I'm more confident the new inhabitants will like their new home.

Thanks so much for all the comments guys :)

The only thing that concerns me a bit, is when it's feeding time. I always turn off all my pumps, and if I don't shut off the ball valve from the return line, my sump water level rises way to high, and causes my skimmer water level rise to the point where it overflows. It's no problem, because I'm always home when I'm feeding the fish, but if some day I have to deal with power outage, and I'm not here to close the ball valve, I'll have my living room soaked by the time I get home.

Andre, consider a check valve for your return line...they run around @20 at my LFS. Here they are at marinedepot.com
