www.liveaquaria.com said:The Maroon Clownfish, also known as the Spine-Cheeked Anemonefish or Maroon Anemonefish, has a bold, red body color with a broad white stripe on the forehead, and white stripes on its midsection and in front of the rear fin.
A 30 gallon or larger aquarium is desirable as is a host anemone such as Bubbletip Sea Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). It is aggressive towards other clownfish, and they are difficult to maintain together in the same aquarium.
The Maroon Clownfish diet consists of meaty items such as frozen shrimp and herbivore preparations.
Do not move the Maroon Clownfish with a net as its cheekspines will become entangled. Use a specimen container if capture is necessary. It is difficult to maintain more than one maroon clown in the aqurium unless they are a pair. These fish like to fight among themselves.
Yeah I'm just curious. for me I already had a tomato clown and fell in love with the gold stripe maroon and had to have it. That was my down fall. But you just seem to want to have an assortment of clowns. I'm just wondering what's driving you to want more than 1 clown. you could always set up a few different tanks all side by side with the different clowns that you love.TimSchmidt said:They are just asking. LOL no need to be embarassed. :cool1:
Really? LOL, my clown must think I am a jerk! I only feed every couple of days and once in a while he might go close to a week without being fed.TimSchmidt said:I feed once a day ... even for my 90 gallon tank. Some people feed twice (but smaller portions). Portion size is key, if they don't finish all the food in like 3-5 minutes then there is too much food being added.
I got scolded from the owner of window to the sea when I told him I only feed once every couple of days. He gave me a big lecture about how fish eat up to 7 times a day in their natural habitat.... blah blah blah. So I started feeding once a day. He said he was going to turn me in for animal abuse. He feeds his tanks at home 3 times a day. Anyway I'm not sure if you're aware, but he shut down his store and opened a store inside the car wash off Redhill and the 5. He's focusing on setting up a highend custom build shop. Said he was sick of having to sell a million nemos just to pay the rent. He also said he was giving his customers passes to go up to his wholesalers in LA to get their livestock.reefman23 said:Really? LOL, my clown must think I am a jerk! Just a warning about fish, especially clowns. They will ALWAYS appear hungry. They'll come swimming up to the surface and an beg and try to get you to feed them... DONT FALL FOR IT! :lol3: My clown suckers me in from time to time still.
Remember to offer a mixed diet too. One type of flake food isnt really enough. You can offer mysis, veggies, etc and mix it up a bit.
