Hello all!! New to the site (but not completely New to saltwater - I had a fish only 75 gallon before moving out of state).
I have a 29G biocube. My question is I am waiting for the LFS to get some live rock. I currently have live sand and a hermit (given out to borrow to help cycle the tank- will go back to store, very large) I was going to cycle with cured live rock, but another fish store guy said to cure it again by putting it in a tub for a couple of weeks with a powerhead. Is this necessary. He said to avoid the nitrogen cycle because it produces nitrates - bad for corals. Also he said to remove the bioballs --again a nitrate causer.
While I'm here I have lots of bubbles and it looks like a film on the surface of the water, is this okay do I need to upgrade the pump? why the film?
Any help will be wonderful.
