Well so far so good only thing my shrooms are getting lighter so far and some zoas are getting darker dont know why???? then nothing changed everything looks same... and well have to give them time to start lighting things up and well at same time lower the fixture... and well i havent post any pictures of full tank showing JESSES INC. productions or show the tank cause 2 reasons...

1 waiting for the 11 new zoa frags that coming on the mail soon and also giving them time to everything to light up and mutate cause of the MH
2. when PC & all parts of the MH fixture is black even fan still thinking of it not sure if gonna paint the fan..

Ed - sure is looking nice - can't wait for a FTS!
color change is always speculative as you noted - some will lighten, others will darken cause you've changed the spectrum and intensity.
OK - way over simplified - its something like this:
coral color is a combination of things
1) what we see is the light they reflect (don't use, ie plants are green because they don't use that color of the spectrum) so the color of the coral depends on the color of the spectrum our bulbs provide
2) another main factor is the density of zooxanthelae and this depends on intensity of PAR spectrum. ie the more intense the light source in the PAR region the less algae they house in their body to photosynthesis
3) fluorescing pigments - the more light in the low blue range (actinic) the more corals will fluoresce (good thing)
4) nutrient levels - less nutrients means less zoozanthelae also and therefore lighter corals, also tied to this is water clarity
bottom line - everyones tank is different and corals will adapt to your tank as they need to. it may take as long as a month to notice some of these changes. but somehow i know your zoas will be awesome as always!

 ohhh thx for the kind words & for the explanation J&D and well yeah some i getting some dark colors i had the frag of DJ and was ligh see through brown with green skirt and orange mouth know they... are the same but darker??? and alot are darking it up and non lighting up just shroom and well still have to lower the MH fixture and still need to put the 2 pc in the fixture so that will help with the color...for know im sticking to 50/50 pcs and when i need to replace bulbs im gonna get actnics to see what looks better and then next replacement bulb ill get the one i like more...i guess that will be like 7 months wait

Nice Pics Eddy. I just picked up some new corals from that guy on NR and they've already opened up. Hopefully in a few more months, my tank will look half as nice as yours will :D
