I'm glad to say that my blue spotted wrasse has come out of hiding a few times. He still scares pretty easily. I stayed home yesterday and he came out for a couple hours in the morning. I just hope he's able to find food when he comes out. Anytime I come close to the tank he goes back under..... That includes feeding time. Also the YWG that Jesse gave me is starting to get some of his yellow back which is nice.
Good to hear Cris. Keep me updated on that YWG.

I'm very happy to say my new fish have adapted pretty well. And the old fish have accepted them. I was pretty concerned about it. Anyway I couldn't get a good FTS with both new fish displayed well so I have two so you can see both my new fish. I tried to get a good close up of them, but they're really shy and I'm not a great photographer. Anyway here in the first shot you can see my blue spotted wrasse and in the second my new rabbitfish. He's not quite as good with the algae as I've heard others are, but he's doing a pretty good job keeping it down. oh yeah.... big blue as I like to call him. He only comes out in the morning for a few hours when I'm not around. I got to see him this Saturday though as you can see and his colors are great and he's chubby. I was really worried about him because he's never out when I feed so he's just living off what the tank is providing. He looks great. I'm pretty happy about that.

I just purchased a tunze osmolator and I'm happy to say I love it. It's really the first piece of equipment that isn't a DIY project for my tank. Amazing how much more comfortable you feel with a product that cost you an arm and a leg. It's silent and well, perfect. :D thanks for convincing me to get it Jess.

I've decided that it's time to get rid of all that crushed coral and get a fine grain sand. The substrate is just getting blanketted with red slime and everytime I clean it off I get a ton of bubbles coming up from under it.

I've also decided to upgrade to a 120 so I'm not sure If I'm going to swap out the sand before I get that or just wait as it could be a few months before I get it.

besides that everything else in the tank is thriving. Oh yeah Jess....... The day that I tell you the YWG was doing so great he dissapeared. I haven't seen him since that day and I've searched everywhere.

Glad to hear you like the osmolator. You got a sweet deal on it too.

It is really going to be a hassle to switch out all of the crushes coral. Plus you'll want to do it is stages so that it doesnt foul up your water too bad. Do you think you could wait until the upgrade?

That sucks about the goby. Sorry to hear that. What do you think happened to him? Hope he is just being sneeky.

I honestly have no clue where he went. I check my skimmer, fuge, sump, drain lines the top of my tank behind my tank......... everywhere. He was perfectly healthy so I know he didn't just up and die. He was eating everything in sight and finally became really comfortable in the tank with the other fish. I'm absolutely clueless as to where he is.

as for waiting to swap out the substrate I'm really hoping to make it to the upgrade. we'll see.

Well I finally built and almost completed my new stand.

Wife is very upset at how large it is. 97" x 27" x 36".

I love it though. As you can see it's not finished. a couple of the doors aren't fitting so I've got to take them off sand the edges down and refinish them.

I built it with hopes of putting a 120 on it however the budget doesn't allow for that at the moment.

I've got the 60 acrylic on it with 7 holes in the back now. 3 drains, 2 for a closed loop and two for the returns from below.

Below I have 3 ten gallon tanks. My RO/DI is hooked up to one with a float valve, the one next to that is for mixing and the 10 gallon above is the fuge.

2-20L's. one will soon be a frag tank and the other is the sump that houses the way too small skimmer, phosban reactor and the mag 9 return. Pretty simple but pretty difficult when doing it all by yourself in one weekend. 33 hours in two days. almost killed me. The thing probably weighs 400lbs and I had no help getting it in my house.

I'll get some more pics later, but I wired 6 outlets on 2 GFI's inside the tank and hooked two of the outlets to switches for pumps when transferring water from one tank to another. RO... to mixing tank and then into system. It needs a lot of work still and some serious fine tuning but I'm pretty stoked on it so far.

yes that is a crack that I put silicone over. I'm amazed it's not leaking. I was so close to being done when I did that. The hole for that drain line took me about an hour and two bits in my dremel to cut. so dumb.

OK..... so I'm having quite an outbreak of Aptasia. I've been using Joes juice with out much luck. It seems as though everytime I kill one I get 5 more. Ridiculous. anyway, I've been wanting to get a shrimp or two as i noticed my Sexy shrimp went missing a few months back. My wife hates shrimp because they look like daddy long legs and she hates spiders. So the Aptasia was a pretty good excuse to get some peppermints and tell my wife it was the only way to get rid of them. I got two of the biggest Peppermint shrimp my LFS had. He said two probably wasn't enough to take care of my problem, but I thought I'd give it a try. Haven't seen them since I put them in the tank about 2 weeks ago. I was at the LFS yesterday and thought I'd grab another one. This time when I put him in I watched to see where he went......... he hung out on the back wall for a little while untill the wrasse spotted him. Now I know that I need to invest in a case of joes juice or get rid of that damn wrasse. I didn't even realize that wrasses would go after shrimp like that. ignorance=$$.

Cris, I dont know how i missed your post from the 3rd... sorry buddy. So far it looks great. Wow what a puzzle of pipes and tubes! Hey that stand looks awesome. Sorry to hear about the shrimp... that's a bummer. Ask Eddy about my aiptasia ! He liked my tank... all but the aiptasia. I hit them with Joes every couple of weeks to keep them in check. Without a peppermint that seems like all i can do. I dont like shrimp because the rip the food out of the mouths of my LPS when I feed them. Lets see, a Peppermint or my acans... not even a question.

Sorry again that I couldnt be there to help you out. I feel bad.

Hey we can come by this Saturday after about 1:30-2pm. Does that work for you? Let me know. I bring both my camera and the D70 and maybe even some Carne Asada!

A little better shot of the stand. Since this pic I've got all the doors attached and cleaned off some of the blue paint I got on the outside.

my top of on the left and mixing tank on the right with the fuge above.

switches for the pumps for water changes and mixing.

outlets. I haven't quite cleaned this area up yet. I'm struggling with where to put the control panel for the RK2.

I was trying to compete with Jesse for most picks in one post but that's proven to be a difficult task

We'd love to have you! According to mapquest, if you started driving now you will be here by 5am saturday morning... assuming you drive straight through, no potty breaks! THat will give you enough to to nap, eat some carne asada, and return home 6pm sunday.

See you there! :lol3:

So Cris is Saturday after 2pm good for you guys?

we ended up having Super Pasta instead. to bad you couldn't make it. It was a good reef geeky time. Even took a field trip to pacific reef. Thanks for calling my setup a beauty. I'm hoping to get it closer to actually being a beauty soon. Right now it's more of a beast.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see a lot of attention put into the proper wiring and placement of all the parts. We can't all buy everything we want, but you have done a fine job with what you have there!

LOL I actually think I am going to go get some arrachera (sp?) meat and grill it! (yes, it's raining and no, I don't care)

thanks for posting those Jesse. You can definitely see the difference in the pics with the pumps on and the pics with the pumps off. I was able to get grimmace and big blue out today while feeding. Put them into a 5 gallon bucket and started treatment. I figured I'd treat the wrasse as well since I was lucky enough to catch both at the same time. He's looking a little skinny so I'ts very possible he could be having issues too. I'll let you know how it goes. Kate is freaked out that I'm going to kill them. She thinks I killed the watanabe with the treatment. She didn't realize that I let him get way to far along before treating him. Anyway...... Hope this does the job. It's gonna be two weeks for them in a bucket. I might go pick up another 10 gallon to give them a little more space. They're only $11. Also don't forget that we could throw that 13 gallon you got in my stand and get a Peacock Mantis any time your ready.
