Update info on Fugu
I noticed today that he is paler in color than days past . He did not seem too intrested in any food offered today ......I am also trying to locate some selcon in this area but am failing misserably at this task .....I ran tests and found that we are still wnl. and appear to continue to remain stable . He ate yesterday and also pooed which are signs that things are a bit more stable and that he hasnt shut down , today he is a bit listless I added an air stone and an addtional filter as well as am setting up for a water change of about a 1/2 gallon . He is still swimming to greet me but remains thin . I will be getting the fresh garlic today (even tho the smell makes me puke) . I am hoping that this will pass since I added the stone I have noticed that his color is a bit improved .... I will be monitoring him closely over the next few days to assure that he pulls through this , I had all the hope in the world that I had gotten to him in time but now my hope is fading ... Have I failed my little Fugu?....I will do what I have to to save this little guy from a far worse fate .....death! I believe he knows that I am trying my best .......keep your fingers crossed that he has had/having just a minor set back ...
I have his lights out to help with stress. I have also primed at best for about 1/2 hour water . I will not run lights for the rest of today and possibly tomorrow to help with stress or they will only be on for a half day. I may disconnect the power head keep the pump running as well as the 2 filters which should be ample water movement but not so much so as to push him around ............I am really worried bout my little Fugu at this point as things look very bleak ...... :anxious

Sadie,

It looks like we are on the same page with our fish... Only that mine has ich and yours does not...

My PBT finally started eating flakes, he copied the other tangs, thank God... He still however doesn't know how to eat pellets which have a higher count of nutrients that boost the immune system.

Last night he continued to move around the tank and exert his dominance over the others so that was a good sign.

His skin doesn't have as many ich as the first day, but be for warned, ich comes back in greater armies, I'm not out of the woods yet.

I would give Fugu time, just try to keep his stress level low.... that helps out a tenfold....

Fugu has had his first dose of garlic (puke city here) and the house reeks and in pa with temps in the 30's I cant open doors and windows . I did a partial 1 gallon water change to rule out contamination of any sort be it airborne or other wise , his lights remain off and will come on in the am for feedings and a partial day if he is in a darker tank my hopes are less stress for Fugu. He will get another dose of garlic tomorrow till he shows some improvement (I am not wanting to add any meds at this point since we dont know a cause )I will do another partial 10% h2o change and then on thursday another 10% water change saturday back to the 20% change most of his problems my be kept to a minimum with pristine h20 conditions wich will do far more for Fugu at this point in the game ....Little Urchin and Ed thanks for the encoraging words they do help ..........Mike I think we are very much on the same page get them eating and keeping the water pristine are far more important than anything else at this point

Don't feel bad Sadie. You did everything that you could for Mr. Fugu, but one thing that you did not do is FAIL.

Sometimes Mother Nature makes us thing that we failed some how trying to give better care for our critters, in the effort to provide them a better quality of life. The natural course of things is so much stronger than whatever care we can provide them, so if it was meant to happen, just be sure that you did everything that you could, and by doing that you were able to provide Mr. Fugu the best last days of his life. We were all witnesses of how much effort you made trying to save him and you should be proud of yourself. You have all the rights in the world be said, but just be sure that you never failed.

I’m sorry for your loss.
