If you use Live Rock as your primary source of filtration, you should be fine in taking the bulk of the filter wool out of the back and replacing it with crushed LR (make this yourself, equipment required, hammer)

Too much filter wool becomes an area that speeds up the nitrate cycle and leaves nitrite with nowhere to go.

This crushed LR will eventually house copepods and amphipods, that will sort out detritis that will settle.

You can still use a small amount of wool on top but you will need to remove this and clean it weekly.

Post some pics as you go

Look forward to them.

Does that stand have support for if and when the tank sways? I like the look, I am just concerned that it may collapse as 24g equals about 184 pounds or so (1 gallon is 8 pounds).

To protect from swaying I have metal corner brackets (8) on each leg.
The legs are in pockets in the top and there is a frame under each shelf.

It's not that blue.It was late and that was atinics only and I didn't tale the time to set the camera properly. I am very pleased with the lighting color.I will get a better picture as the tank gets closer to being cycled

:welcome to Nanotank.com!

This site is a great place to start out and all questions are welcomed! But if you could please just start a thread of your own we will be able to help out better without having to run two conversations on the one thread. :cool1: A good question to answer is "What do I want IN my tank?". With that we can help much better.

Plomanto, I really like the way your lights are in that tank. do you know what kind of corals your running with yet?

I use the koralia copy 3000l/hour.
I have one on each side at different hieghts and have great water movement.

They push a lot of water across a broad area. If you set them up right, you can get some awesome, random movement that your corals will love.

Similar to this..

These are cheaper versions of the original koralia but at this price, i'm not complaining.
The downside is that the steel shafts break from corosion and wear after about 18 months. replacements are available and are only a couple of bucks.

NOTE, the link is to an australian site, you will need to find them in the US
