We had a little mix up with the first go round of voting (http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1522) so we are starting the poll over. Please vote again if you already did as we are starting from new. :strip

Each participant was allowed to submit two photos of their tank. Please vote for the best overall tank. The member's tank with the most votes will receive an IceCap Model 70-MH setup including a new 6.5K MH bulb hanging system and a pre-wired ballast box. This great compact setup is completely plug and play.

The winner of the TOTS contest will be asked to provide a short write-up about their tank to submit to the site. It will be featured on the front page for about a month.

Voting ends midnight July 31, 2005.

I voted for six because I like a full tank and that tank is really full of life. Seven would be my runner-up.

hey all
just in case you didn't read my other post - as of today at 2:00pm tank number three no longer exists! Not that anyone was voting for it anyway :)
Still, good luck to the rest of you - great tanks.

I read your post, sorry to hear about your tank. i have my jbj 6 and I worry too, but I haven't read much on nano-reef about the 6's being bad and cracking. mostly on the dreaded 24.

I was completely new to the JBJ nanos and only bought it cuz it was convenient and on sale at the LFS - and unfortunetly I did not find those threads until I owned one - but on the plus side this gives me a reason to finish the 20 I had started on before I bought that POS.

A big congrats goes out to Mike Guerrero for taking first place for the TOTS contest! Mike's tanks are always very impressive as he continually pushes the limits to what we can do with nanos. Mike will receive an awesome 70W MH setup. :)

I will unlock this thread shortly.

You destroyed me Mike!! You have the most colorful zoos, my downfall !! I'm working on getting some nice colored zoos. In the meantime I did pick up a nice florida ricordia like yours, it's a small one head, but I have high hopes for it to grow nice and big. It came out of the MH lighting, so in my tank it's looking quite radiant. Hopefully it'll stay happy under my pc lighting.

Who had #7?

I liked the "spookyness" of the rockwork. Clean, simple, yet colorfull at the same time.

Then again, everyone here had a great tank. Alot of it that makes or breaks you is the pictures unfortunately. Everyone did a great job and all will continue to have excellent tanks.

Keep up the great work!

I was # 7. Thanks for the comments Kris, I tried my hardest but my brother killed me :( I dont have those kind of zoos yet to give it a more colorful edge to the right. As of yesterday I did get a head of Florida Ricordia. It looks real nice and vibrant. Wish I could have gotten that in before the contest started, it may have helped :) I also to complete it I wish to add diff color zoos to cover up the exposed rock to give it a real rich color.

Oh and also to you sadie, the coral my brother had in there was a torch coral.

Hey Reefers,

First of all I'd like thank all those that took the time to vote; you brought back democracy to nanotank :D I'd also like to thank DJconn for continuing the contest and getting us through it.

And to my little brother, I haven't caught you in posts; something I've been wanting  but still too far away. However, my pico says a lot on how much I love reefing.

My pico is quite simple yet unique in it's parts. I started off with a 1 gallon curved glass tank; I like the look of the curved tanks. Then I added live sand from my cured tanks to the bottom; about 3 full cups. I then added 1.5 pounds of cured live rock from Ming at Atlantis aquarium in Fremont, Ca.

I then visited James at Aquascene, Hayward CA and purchased many cool frags; it was my birthday and my company bought me gift certificates, I was sort of tired of getting dress shirts and ties every year. His selection is great and I love the way he has all his pieces in like a mini sandbox for me to pick and choose.

My pico consist of all sorts of colored button polyps three mushrooms; spotted, green and orange. One baby yuma, baby torch coral, baby hammer coral; mostly frags that are tiny and easy to work with. I also I added small colony of GSP and organ pipe.

The tank was powered by the Aqua Mini filter, 50 watt titanium heater and the mini coral light 50/50 18 watts.

I've actually decided to retire this cute little tank in hopes of working on a bigger project and hey since I won this title, better to retire this tank before my little bro comes at me with a rematch; you guys and gals don't know how relentless he can be on a come back fight. :wlift

Sugar, regarding your question on plans for my new light. I've been wanting my little brother to set up a true SPS tank at his pad; because my wife might kill me if I set up another tank in my living room.

Maybe now I can fly down to Orange County Anaheim and donate my prize and force him to spend, and spend I love setting up tanks especially when I'm not the one explaining to my wife why theres another coral in my cube; she got tired of hearing that my live rock was sprouting new life. Only worked a couple of times.

Anyways we will see what Dragons girlfriend says when she hears she might have to do more water changes; Dragon has her maintaining the 12 gallon cube you see in his threads. :Rant

Once again, thank you to all that voted for me. :D

Sincerely,

Mike

 ?? WoW Mike. No more tanks for you to setup, and you want me to go and setup another huh? Sandra would make me get rid of a tank I am sure. I love my 6, it's perfect and maintained as I baby it. Sandra's tank has had a bit of neglect on her part, but is working on turning it all around. She needs to get her hands wet and start pruning off that GSP. I'd love to setup a 20 gallon tank something similar to Rbabys' with all that nice plumbing, & sump. Would go great in combination with the MH. Mike if you come down, there is no way I'd go SPS, funny guy. I'd go a different theme. Would be nice to have my first dedicated anemone tank, which is something I'd love to talk about in nanochat to see how to get it setup successfully. I'd then transfer the two clowns from my 6 gallon into the new 20. (they are growing big, at least the female, the queen of the tank ) At any rate this all sounds like fun, and I hope you do visit brother so we can work on it together.
