    My 12 Gallon Aquapod

Thanks for looking! I'm enjoying the beautiful colors of the coralline algae. Mine varies from pink to purple variations. I don't know if this made a difference or not, but I noticed the coralline algae seemed to grow more when I added the astrea snails. Maybe they helped to seed my tank to...

    Beginner Corals

Thanks to you both! I will do some research into those low to medium light corals. I'm checking into mushroom and polyp corals currently. I'm not one to just dive in, so I like to do my research before putting new critters in my tank. I'll also ask the reef shop I go to if they dip their...

    My pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

Thanks! The lens I use is a Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 28-200mm F/3.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens. I love it because of it's wide range of focal lengths. Saves me having to change lenses every time I need to take a close up or zoom shot.

    Beginner Corals

What are some good corals to start with? I currently have a 12 gallon aquapod with artificial corals, but def want to venture into live ones. I was thinking about some mushrooms and polyps. Also, how can I best prepare my tank to receive the corals (i.e. water quality, suppliments, etc.)...

    My 12 gal

Welcome to the Nanotank community! Looks like you have some interesting specimens in your tank. It is a reef only or do you have fish?

    My pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

This is a pic I caught of my two clownfish ... Chloe and Clifford. Yes, I'm one of those weirdos who name their fish. :)

    My 12 Gallon Aquapod

This is my 12 gallon aquapod. I've had it just over a year now and recently added a pair of Occellaris Clownfish. I have three blue leg hermits and three astrea snails. Have some artificial corals and anemone. My clownfish have actually adopted the fake anemone. I've noticed a lot of new...

Which corals are good for beginners?

Thanks, Cris. I will research these and see if/when I want to take the leap into corals. I appreciate the feedback. :)

Which corals are good for beginners?

I currently have a FOWLR tank, but may want to venture into more of a reef tank down the road. I was wondering which corals are easier for a beginner? Mushrooms, polps, or soft corals? I have a 12 gallon aquapod. Thanks!

Now that my tank has fully matured, I have a fish question

I'm happy to announce that my Blue Damsel has regained her confidence and is now happily swimming about the tank! Guess she just needed some time. Thanks to all for your input since I'm new to this!

Now that my tank has fully matured, I have a fish question

Yes, I check my water quality daily ... even though my tank is mature. Everything looks good, so maybe my fish is just stressed and needs some personal space to adjust to her new home. :) She's the only fish in the tank, so it's not stress from another fish. I do have some blue leg hermits...

Now that my tank has fully matured, I have a fish question

Well, I'm glad to say that my 12g Aquapod has now fully matured/cycled. I have a FOWLR tank with artificial corals to dress it up. I just added my first "test fish" ... a blue devil damsel. Very beautiful! Only one fish. Well, my fish has started hiding and does not come out like she did in...

    PH and Alkalinity Issues ...

Thanks NanoReefaholic, So since I'm new to all this, what instrument or method should I use to test the Alk, Ca, and Mg? I did check my PH level today, and it was right on the spot at 8.3. I've been using API 5 in 1 test strips to test basic water levels (i.e. GH, KH, Nitrite, Nitrates) as...

    PH and Alkalinity Issues ...

I have been having problems keeping my PH steady at 8.3, so I purchased a PH Buffer to help balance it. It did finally balance, but then eventually dropped down to 7.8 again. So I tested my alkalinity and saw it was pretty high at 240. I let the tank just rest for a few days and the PH came...

New 12 Gallon Aquapod -- Why are my snails dying?

Thanks to everyone for your responses! Your input is very helpful. I have discovered that my snails do fall over and then I have to turn them rightside up. And being that hermit crabs have quite the appetite, I think they fell prey to them. :( Oh well, I'm learning what works and what...

New 12 Gallon Aquapod -- Why are my snails dying?

Well, thanks for at least letting me know that it is normal to loose snails sometimes. Now I can breathe a little easier. :-)
