I have 4 inhabitants in my nano tank, 1 damsel and 3 hermit crabs. This morning when I went to turn on the light and feed my fish I noticed hundreds of little mostly transparent-floaty-taily things in the water. Could these be hermit crab larvae? and if so, what do I do with 100's of hermit...

yeah, I got a hydrometer that works now.. and the salinity of the boxed premixed water i've been using from petco is really really high. So, I'm considering mixing my own water from now on. At least I caught that before I sent some fish/inverts to their death in my salt tank of doom! :)

Well I never noticed alot of evaporation, so I never topped off with anything. Its just been the same water out of the box for 2.5 weeks...

New results as of 4/16/06 Ph - 8.0 Ammonia - 0 Alk - Normal 1.7-2.8 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates - 5.0 Temp- 78 Salinity 1.021 I guess these results are alot better than my last... Tank has been cycling for about 2.5 weeks :)

Ammonia was 0... Here is a pic of my drastic difference in NO2 and NO3... I hear patience is key when maintaining SW tanks... so guess i'm waiting some more... :bawlg:

I tested my water today... here were the results: pH 8.0 Alk 1.7-2.8 (was normal range on my color chart) No2 0 ppm No3 I think was 20 ppm... but color was awfully close to the next one up which is 50... =/ Ammonia 0 So whats up with my No3!? I did a partial water change as well so I...

How namy pounds of LS/LR do you think i'd need for a 12g nano? I've just been browsing on ebay and other places while my nano is still being shipped... also still need to get a marine lab for water testing among other things... Anyway I just wanted a general idea... Thanks! :wors:

I ordered a 12g deluxe nano... so i'll have that soon! I probably wont be able to buy LS/LR, etc until next payday. I took marine biology in high school, but I dont remember any of it... so i'm sure i'll be coming to this board alot for advice. :-)

yeah, I think mostly soft corals and maybe a fish or two?... I definately dont want to get into more than I can handle to start off. As for budget, of course, i'm not looking for anything too extravagant... just a little something for me to start learning with. :-)
