    Copepods: All-U-Can-Eat

Well, I'd say my tank is finally "established". It's almost 6 months old and SWARMING with copepods. What would be a good fish to put in it that will eat up some of those, but will also accept frozen foods? My tank is only 6gal, but there are currently no other fish in it. I was originally...

    Mixing bulb brands

thats what i figured - if i changed one out now, and then waited 12 months and changes both again, would that be ok? or should i change each bulb at the 12-month mark?

    Mixing bulb brands

didn't think it would, but thought i'd run it by you guys before i burn my GF's apartment down... Also, should i change both bulbs at the same time anyway? my current bulbs are about 3-4 months old.

    Mixing bulb brands

Hello, I wanted to give my tank a different look by changing the lighting. I wanted to change one of my two 50/50 PC bulbs to a 12k bulb. The new bulb would be the same wattage, pin-style, etc, but would be a different brand than the other bulb. Are there any problems with running two different...

    Exception to the rules?

Just wondering if there were any "reef-safe" triggers or puffers out there? I've heard of one reef-safe trigger, but can't remember which one it was. Also, i guess puffers are "technically" reef-safe, since as far as i know, they won't eat corals, but they are rather clumsy and can knock corals...

    T5's

I understand the difficulty in comparrison - it's always that way with lights - i've just heard that roughly 400w of PCs equals 150w of MH (again, roughly, and of course PAR is very different between the 2...) Just wondering if there was any general comparison - basically, how many watts of...

    T5's

in terms of wattage, how many t5's would you need to equal the light output of a 250w MH? It seems like t5's are less expensive, but that all depends on how many bulbs you actually need to run...

    A lot of questions

The only things i would change would be a larger water change - 30% once a month. Also, make sure the tank is fully cycled before adding ANY livestock. Put some fish food or a piece of shrimp in the tank to help it cycle - once nitrates, nitrites and ammonia all equal 0, you're good to add...

    T5's

Would it be possible to keep SPS and clams under only T5's? Or are MH still the way to go for those?

    emerald crab question

Not sure, but I have seen emerald crabs range in color from deep emerald green, to pale white/green/brownish... maybe he's not getting enough algae to eat? Not sure if that would green him up some more.

    T5's

Well, the fixture i want to use is a combo MH/T5, so i wouldn't want to keep it only 2-6" off the tank i don't think... Are the T5's actually brighter? or do they just have better PAR?

    T5's

Does anyone out there have any experience using T5's on their tanks - either as their main lighting, or supplemental. I've been researching and asking around about lights for the 29g i'm going to be setting up, and one person recommended a hood setup with a 250w MH and 2x24w T5's (...
