As long as you didn't miss a week it should be fine, but to give yourself a little more breathing room maybe do 2 to be on the safe side.

It depends on your bioload and filtration methods. I'd make it 2g every week to be safe.

i do a gallaon a week as well on my 10 gal.
one thing i noticed though is that the day after i do my water change--i have to use a ph buffer cause my ph goes down to 8.0. is that normal?
i use nautreocean already mixed saltwater witch already has trace elements and live bacteria to do my water changes-i checked the ph in that water and its always at 8.3
