Now that I can post, Here is what my tank is doing ... Green grass like algee on the sides, also you can see some debree on top of the sand at the bottom. The debree is from the maturing LR im assuming, but wasnt 100% sure. Also is it okay to use a syphon to do a water change/ clean the debree...

Latest update: Plexiglass is my friend... lol Tonight I will be starting the assembly of my plexiglass hood and also the top to help prevent the rapid evaporation. Wish me luck!! lol :lol:

After observing for about a week, you can see the LR developing. LR is starting to build pink/purple on it. Im assuming this is normal?! Also what test kit would you recommend?

Good point, except my lfs is selling for 8.50 per pound. LoL they make saltwater aquariums expensive but very well worth it! :gcool
