January Photo Contest - Vote for the winner

yah I agree, I'd like to see a race where you see like somebody has like 20 votes , another has 16, and so on. Also Dj, make this a sticky and future contests a sticky until the contest ends, that way it's the first thing they see.

    Feeding with cyclopeeze

Thank you very much B. It appears the mushroom is getting too much light and not enough shade. I was guessing that, and placed sandra's mushroom rock down to the sandbed. It should do better down there. I've made Sandra real sure not to place it near any tentacles that may sting the shroom...

    Mandarins

as am I. I'm currently trying to train the spotted mandarin to eat anything other than copepods. I been throwing in mysis and flake, no real luck there *sometimes it'll eat a flake on accident* I tried cyclopeeze, and this is true....he began eating those things one by one....and I am...

    Feeding with cyclopeeze

so i guess that is suppose to be that way with the mushrooms I'm speaking off, right? They just lay there and do nothing. They suppose to eat regularily aren't they? Consume some bit of food or whatever? Or is it mostly light? I notice Sandra's are starting to look not as colorful, and has...

Pic of the week ---- Crabs

staghorn costs... little staghorn cost 24.00. He was the costly crab there, as you know with most crabs they are like 10 bucks. at least they are priced like that here. It was worth it though.

    Feeding with cyclopeeze

cool, thanks for the few responses, I tried to feed again last night with that stuff. (this time much smaller piece) I fed the long yellow polyps, and I see they will have their thin tentacles wrap around that stuff fast and close up. (it's cool you can see the food in their system) Also I...

    So, my tank is ready!

So what will be your next fish? I like the the six-line wrasee, it's cool, small, and beneifial. He eats the pods in your tank, any little parasites on the LR, and will eat the normal flakes and mysis. You kind of get the whole package. That's my recommendation :)

    So, my tank is ready!

Re: Uh Oh! Good move Cora! I'm glad you were able to spot the problem in time. Yeah that blenny he is a very ticked off fish sometimes. Let me tell you recently..there was a hermit crab where he usually sleeps at night, and (being he wasn't even near that area) he comes out of his hiding...

    Actinic

well I do know is that you need a good balance. If you have too much daylights....you'll have that desert look....yuck! As far as benefit of more actinic besides "looks" and "balance" I am not entirely sure, but if you come across some articles or websites, be sure post up. If I find...

    So, my tank is ready!

Re: Thanks! Well cora, I never owned a damsel, but they seem to hold their own and they are also fast. They move around kind of like a clownfish, but more. If the dotty back and blenny have their own little place to chill (lots of hiding areas) your damsel should be fine. I wouldn't get...

    So, my tank is ready!

Here's from my personal experience. I owned the strawberry dottyback, and I loved it. Had tons of personality, and swam in and out of rocks all the time. For the most part peaceful, but it ate my sexy shrimp i had in my girlfriend jbj. Also a few days later, mr. dotty died. I was puzzled...

Just got back from PetCo!! :)

I believe it, I've read about this too, and also have read sugar magnolia's posts on other forums and have seen her get praise afterwards as the nitrate levels going back to zero. So going this route of removing it will be the right way of doing it, you'll see when you test your levels and be...

    Help picking out NanoCube!!!!!!!

vafix Well being an owner of the JBJ 12, I can tell you that the maintenance on the 24 is going to be the same. What you are buying is more room to add your livestock. Remember, going bigger you will end up spending more. As far as the water changes, the more you are on top of it, the better...

    cyano bubble algae

things looking better Thanks Adrian for the article, i read it, and saw the leading causes of it. Overfeeding, dead organisms, living, basically anything organic left in there that isn't swept up by the filtration system ups the chance. It really stresses on getting a protein skimmer, and one...
