One more thing...how long can I expect an hqi to last? I've seen many websites say 10 to 16 month. This doesn't seem like very long considering many of these lamps claim a 15,000-20,000 hour burn time. How long have your guys' lamps generally lasted? Do these bulbs weaken over time?

I have two Rio powerheads in my 16 and i like them. They are pretty small (2"x2"x3" or so) and move the water pretty well. Good luck with your tank!

so, incysor, would ou suggest i keep the daylight then? The daylight is similar to a sunpaq, its 6500 and 10,000 i think.

I have this satellite 2x40 c/f on my 16 gal bowfront: http://www.aquariumguys.com/dualsatellite3.html I plan on removing the daylight bulb/ballast and upgrading it by installing a 70 watt hqi mh. i would leave the actinic and also install an additional fan. Firstly, what do you guys think...

its probably just a legal thing...maybe with that worning, they can get sued if if gets wet and you get shocked or it catches fire. i dunno, but that is pretty funny!!

i agree with hooterhead, just get a 5.5 or 10 glass tank and add a filter. Im assuming that you are just beginning, and i think that the glass will be less trouble for you than acrylic. I know that petco has 10 gal for around $10 and 5.5 for about $15. The filter will only cost you $30 to...

Zoos are my favorite...i agree it IS like zoo heaven. beautiful colors in those zoos. .never seen them before.

Yes. The rock is nice. He bought good quality lr and it has been in the tank for about a year. There is a good amount of purple coraline algae.
