questions about DIY refugium (real not hob)

I think if you placed the fuge ABOVE the display tank, you could have the opposite of a regular setup...you would pump the water OUT of your main display, up to the fuge. Then you let an overflow in the fuge return the water back to the display using gravity. I dont know if it would work, but...

    Worm...

I use my bare hands to remove the BW in my tank. I get stuck with the little white hairlike stractures...whole bunches of them...but I have yet to feel a thing. I just quickly wash my hands with soap and warm water. I wouldnt recommend anyone do this unless they know that the BW in their tank...

    Worm...

Sounds like a bristleworm. Its kinda hard without a pic though...did it look at all like this? there are different varieties, but i would say this is the most common. If this is what you saw, then it isnt worth worrying about too much...they are harmless (usually) scavengers. They can...

    Reefman's 20L...

I came one step closer to drilling my 20L today. I borrowed a rotozip from a friend at work, and I had purchased a diamond dremel bit hoping that it would fit the rotozip (rotozip doesnt make diamond bits). well it didnt. this sent me on my way to harbor freight tools. This is what I...

WAR!!! Unfortunately, Mr. Nudi was found dead 2 days ago. After a short investigation, the coroner came to the conclusion that the cause of death was trapping/squishing by rock. Poor guy...I came to really love my little FW vacuum. He was so pretty. Here is the requested pic of him at...

    New frags...

Steven, I feed my open brain every other night or so. I feed meaty foods like uncooked tiger shrimp and silversides. The same goes for the candy canes. Is this okay, or is there a better way to do it? Jesse

question regurding on how to get a button polyp to split

If you let it go, it will clone itself...at least thats what I think they do. Give it light, time, clean water, and it will spread pretty quick. I have a frag that I bought with about 8-10 polyps...8 weeks later there are around 18 polyps.

    Reefman's 20L...

Well i would love to run a scwd...that would mean I would have to have a little bit larger pump and the added expense of the scwd. Is that something you would suggest over running straight returns? I dont plan on sps... okay maybe one or two sps...mainly LPS, zoas, things like that. I was...

    Reefman's 20L...

My 20L display tank will hopefully be drilled for a Stockman standpipe with a 1" bulkhead with (2) 3/4" returns, one in each upper corner of the display tank. I think I would be shooting for around 200-300 gph in the fuge (?). Im looking at having the standard skimmer--->fuge--->return. In...
