    my new 5.5

yeah that's what i was saying. not that i didn't like the shape but that it's just white. no color. it'll look better over time though. i actually liked the color the wood already was. so i put a natural stain with a couple of polyurethain coats on top. i really wasn't worried about what it...

    my new 5.5

here's the new tank. all the stuff from my 2 (you can see it in the pico section) is going in here once the cycle completes. i've got 2 pieces of crappy tonga, a rio 200 PH and a coralife 36watt fixture. i just finished the stand and canopy yesterday. they didn't quite turn out like i'd hoped...

Okay, I'm in Day 3 of Cycling...how long do I wait?

i'm sorry but it's just cruel to put a fish through the cycle process. that's torture to a fish. just because people usually use cheap and undesirable fish (damsels/chromis) doesn't make it ok.

Okay, I'm in Day 3 of Cycling...how long do I wait?

first your amonia will spike, then nitrItes, and finally nitrAtes. once you get your nitrAtes below 10 ppm, you can add something. a pair of tomato clowns get way too big for a 15 gal. you could probably get away with a pair of true percs but the tomatos get big. even with the percs, you'll have...

    need some ideas

i've got the idea i think. i went today and got some L brackets. i'm just going to drill the aluminum housing on the light and put screws in it to hold.

    75 gal journal

is he going to put any kind of a backing on it? it would make it harder for maintenence and moving things inside the tank since work is done from behind. but would give a much better appearance from the front. maybe he could make something that's easily removable and replacable. nice tank!

    need some ideas

i've just recieved my 36 watt coralife pc fixture that i'm putting on my 5.5. problem is, the light is 12x7 and the tank is 16x8.5. i'm planning on building a canopy but need ideas on how to secure the fixture inside. i'm thinking a piece of plixiglass fixed into the canopy to rest the light on...

    Shrimps,,, and how they sleep...

the snails you are thinking of are nassarius. very good snails. i'd get some ceriths too as they are also good at cleaning your sand bed.

    Shrimps,,, and how they sleep...

no it's not good to have everything at zero. you should have a little nitrate in there. 1st is the ammonia spike, then the nitrIte, and then nitrAte steps in. nitrAtes will only go away if there is nothing to feed on, with water changes and with macro algeas. if everything is at 0 then you might...

    Shrimps,,, and how they sleep...

it was probably your acclimation technique. inverts need a lot more time to acclimate than fish do. that float way is too harsh on them. i always do a drip acclimation on all my tank members. it's more gradual and much easier on the animals. just get an airhose and crimp it (you'll need to...
