    2.5 update

Hi all; Thanks for all your comments. Could do with more though, especially criticisms, i'm sure there are many. Sugar Magnolia, thanks for your concern, i was afraid of that too butam monitering him carefully, especially at night and early morn. his feeding/stinging tentacles are pretty...

    Fish for a 2.5?

Thanks all of you for your replies. Sugar Magnolia; i was hesitant to take the rainfordi cos i was worried cos of the possible lack of swimming space. Unlike clown gobies, blennies etc, they swim rather than perch. But i will definately keep that option open. And as for your other great...

    Fish for a 2.5?

Thanks firefish for the suggestion. Actually thought about that along with eviota gobies but the LFS wont be able to bring them in. In australia, despite being about 4hours by land from the great barrier reef, fish and inverts especially are in low variation and cost about double to triple...

    Yellow Clown Goby

Hey, sorry to change the subject somewhat but are these guys good eaters in captivity? some other posts say they keep dying. And what about keeping them in groups, do you guys think getting a pair would be okay? (assuming they arent a true 'mated' pair)

    Fish for a 2.5?

Hi skip, thanks for the input. Was thinking of getting two or three sexys but they cost AUD 60 each here; way too much for my college student budget. If anyone could tell me at least which of the species i mentioned would be, in their opinion, most suitable in my tiny tank. I realise...

    Fish for a 2.5?

hi all need some advice on what i can keep in my 2.5. Choices so far include: Biocellatus goby - female only (male died at LFS after fight with hawk) I dunno if i should try her cos, she's now a widow, and i heard online that they dont eat well in captivity Bicolour...

    2.5 update

Hi all, Below are some pics from my 2.5. sorry about the glare and lack of resolution cos i'm using a camera phone. This is my tank before anything was put in it: just LR (2+kg) (abt 5lbs) And this is it yesterday. Bottom, left hind: Bubble coral (plerogyra) Bottom left...

    Button/Meat/Donut Coral (Cynaria)

Hi incysor Thanks for the heads up; saw a 2.5" green at the LFS but they dont go cheap. The brown ones dont look too good though. But since you say they'll swell up really big, cant really have it half the size of my pico. Thanks again.

    Clownfish

Hi all Sorry this had to be a second post, had to run for class earlier Think i'll start off with the more common species almost all LFS would have. Amphiprion Ocellaris Possibly the most common clownfish in the aquarium trade and one of the contenders for most common marine in the...

    Clownfish

Hi all, seeing that so many people are interested in them, i've decided on opening up their own thread. Please post any info on any clowns up here. Will try to give writeups on the more common species. Hope this works

    Button/Meat/Donut Coral (Cynaria)

Hi all Just wondering if anyone's had experience with these guys. Any info appreciated cos i saw a green one at the LFS and was thinking... How much coral can i stuff into the tank without nematocyst war happening?

    Duncanopsammia Anyone?

Thanks Sugar Mag I got him already, fed one head some shrimp but another rejected it. Seems really common here but i've never heard of it before. Comes in every week; about 6-8 pieces; most very large.

    my redsea nano updated pics

Hi sorry but is that a blue tang in there?! If it is, i bet it'll get whitespot within 2 weeks. They just dont do well in confined spaces.

    Two-Spot Goby (Signigobius biocellatus)

Hi there, Thanks for the replies. When i saw them at the LFS, they'd been there a week and werent thin at all. But since you guys think they may be finicky eaters, i'll double check. I told the girl on e pgone that i'd only take em if they're eating solid food (ie pellets) She said she wasnt...

    .75g Red Sea Aqua Vase

Hope this isnt too off topic (and great tank btw, how long's it been going) Why is it people have such negative experience with clown gobies (either they disappear or they jump)? I've decided against getting one partially for that reason.

What other fish are compatible with a yellow tail damsel?

Hi there, I think a bicolour blenny would be okay with him. he'd spend most of the time on rockwork and wouldnt be competing with the same territory. Even if they do bicker, a good sized bicolour would be up for it; they are pretty spunky after all. Btw, Miss Reef Tank, what LPS coral is...

    Duncanopsammia Anyone?

Hi there again Have any of you had any experience with this? it's a relatively cheap coral here in Australia at $2 per polyp. Btw, it's a LPS hard coral. i got about 4 heads in my tank and think they make great almost substitutes for elegance corals (too big for picos). Any info would be...

    Two-Spot Goby (Signigobius biocellatus)

Hi all, hope you've seen the, somewhat outdated, pic of my pico tank. Was just wondering if anyone's had any experience with the aforesaid fish. I intend on getting a pair for my tank. just wanted to know if they throw sand all over, eat corals, are easy to kill, display any interesting...

    Will these get too big?

Hi, Although the sight of a small 1.5" blue tang in a nano is an impressive sight, in such cramped quarters, they just seem to be very prone to whitespot. This, apart from having to keep upgrading in the future make both species an unwise decision in a nano. Just my 2c worth.

    Clowns and Chromis

Hey there, Just thought i'd donate my 2 cents worth. Amphiprion percula and A. ocellaris have been part of major disputes. While many scientists and taxonomists think that they are indeed one and the same species (differences arising only due to differing geographic locations). Similarly...
