    Edgray's 12 Nano Cube

Ed, I have an advice for you... I've have to move my two nanocubes twice last year, and I would not recommend moving it with any water at all, even if you are moving 15 minutes away. I moved less than 5 minutes away from where I used to live, and I transferred my corals and fish to a...

    Jesse's 20L+20L fuge...

That's great Jesse, The important thing, is that you are constantly seeking for different sources to master the technical aspects of keeping a delicate clam such as the Maxima healthy. I'm sure with the proper care and husbandry it will continue to thrive. With the knowledge and care, the...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Rmanecke, It sounds like a pump upgrade, and switching to a two sensor mode should solve the problem. It will also shorten the amount of time the audible beep emitted from the ATO while the pump is on, which can get preety annoying if the unit is on for a long time.

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Rmanecke, You mentioned that you use the ATO in a single sensor mode. I was wondering if that's what might be causing the problem. There should be one sensor in your sump or tank, and one sensor in your reservoir. How exactly do you have the ATO setup with just one sensor?

    Jesse's 20L+20L fuge...

Jesse, I love your Maxima clam. It has a beautiful mantle with a very nice range of vivid colors. Your black clowns are gorgeous, and your aquascape is just phenomenal, especially with the introduction of those killer frags. Keep up the good work man. Your tank is looking awesome ;-)

My 56 gallon custom acrylic, week zero through 6

rmanecke, Your tank is progressing nicely and I love what you've done with your aquascaping. You got some sweet black & white Percula clowns. I find them to be very distinctive, social, and extremely active, which just like you said, helps to draw out shier fish that share the tank with...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Rmanecke, Thanks a lot for your comments. I really appreciate it! I use a Rio 180 with my ATO, with a dual sensor mode, and so far I've never experienced any safety shut off failure issues. Yes I've seen the safety shut off activated when my reservoir water level is below the...

Getting the right exposure to kill parasites...

I like what you said: I think many systems can benefit from UV sterilizers, but I personally would only use it when necessary, instead of running it 24/7 all the time. Here is some info I found interesting about UV Sterilizers: "Dwell time, the amount of time a given quantity of water...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Thanks so much for all the comments guys :) The only thing that concerns me a bit, is when it's feeding time. I always turn off all my pumps, and if I don't shut off the ball valve from the return line, my sump water level rises way to high, and causes my skimmer water level rise to the point...

UV what do you reefers think?

Mike, It's tough to be able to handle the best of both worlds, especially when it comes to SPS corals and a significant amount fish together. IMHO all you need to do, as hard as it can be  , is get rid of some of your fish. Yeah the UV might be another good soldier to your filtration...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

You certainly have a point there Mike. I was really happy w/ my RK1 too, and the only reason I replaced that unit, is because got lucky to be within the 30 day trial period, and DA took the trade w/ no problem. I was going to get a pH monitor anyway and Digital Aquatics just happened to...

The ReefKeeper 2 will definitely work with your NC6 w/out a doubt. The unit sell for $270 and you can purchase the pH probe from Digital Aquatics for $47 or choose from other different brands as well. Mike had a ReefKeeper 1 unit hooked up to his NC12 and I think he'll be able to give you a...
