    DISASTER & HAPPY CLOWN

That's cool Ed, It's nice that he's found a host... Now he can feel more secure and at home. Mine too hosts in a hairy mushroom colony and spends 90% of his time on his mushroom house :)

Bullied clown evolution of another pico 2.5 ( pics added )

I've seen people taking all the necessary steps and precautions by placing their fish in a QT tank for 6 weeks, doing hyposalinity, copper and the whole 9 yards to ensure that the fish is parasite free and after all that effort, when it's finally time to place it in the new tank, the fish gets...

    Powder Blue meets his cousins...

Mike, Whatever you are doing to your tank, you're doing it right. Your reef looks awesome, with crystal clear water, super cleaned SB, outstanding rock formation, with beautiful corals, fish and inverts. A truly work of art! Good luck with the new tang man... By far one of the most...

    U.H.

This is a Tulip Majano Anemone, a frequently encountered "pest" in reef tanks. I think they are cool looking, but have powerful stinging, which can harm your corals. I have two or three in my tank for months now and let them be, since they don't reproduce as quickly as aiptasia and are not...

ok some new pics of the unidentified coral

This is an Aiptasia Anemone, a frequently encountered pest in reef tanks. They are unattractive, reproduce easily, have powerful stinging, which can harm your corals. I would use a product called Joe’s Juice, which is very effective to control Aiptasia and Majano.

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Here is a good article about Ferrous Oxide Phosphate Removers, with some interesting charts on the effectiveness of Phosban vs Rowaphos. Also Ferrous Oxide Phosphate Removers may precipitate some components of the reef tank's buffering system, causing a sudden decline in pH, reflecting a...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

My test kit measured between 0.025 and 0.05, but as you know Hagen Nutrafin Test Kits are not the most reliable in the market and this is what I currently have for phosphates. I ordered one from Salifert that should be arriving with the phosphate reactor. I noticed today that the water...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

I am trying to keep up with frequent pruning of my Caulerpa to avoid and interrupt the algae's life cycle, in order to prevent sexual reproduction and massive vegetative die-off. Many experts advice that thinning cuts retain the algae's natural form and is best as Caulerpa fronds are single...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Mike, Thanks for the advice and info about the phosphate reactor. I tested phosphates just now and my test kit is reading 0.3mg/L, but I know w/out a reactor those levels will eventually climb. That's why I wanted to add the reactor now to prevent any major fluctuations. The phosban...

    Sand Bed Cleaner Suggestions

IMO Nassarius Snails are one of the most ideal scavengers and detritus eaters, quickly consuming uneaten food, decaying organics, and fish waste. These guys bury themselves in the sand, which will also help you to maintain adequate oxygen levels in the substrate.

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

I ordered a new member to my filtration work force today. Next week I shold be receiving a phosban reactor with some ROWAphos media to try to taco the nuisance algae growth from all angles. The reactor should help me keep the phostate levels low and hopefully with time my macros will slowly...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Sweet Mike, I think it's well the shot with this new fixture. Now you have a light that points downwards and will help to prevent excessive light bleeding all over your sump, so your macros have less of a change of growing in undesirable places. Good call on the new coralife fixture. I...

An Attempt to Save a Scooter Blenny

I decided to take this little guy back to my LFS today. I am fighting ich along with some other issues that commonly arise when setting up new systems and my tank isn't really large or mature enough for this fish. I hope he'll get lucky to get picked by someone w/ a proper setup for him.

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Very true Mike, I'm actually on my way to the LFS w/ two Sea Urchins and the Scooter Blenny. My macros pretty much doubled their size since I started growing them about a month ago and even though my Caulerpa goes through vegetative die-offs and I need to keep pruning them every now and...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

I’m definitely going to remove them, since they're large urchins and are starting to cause some trouble. I'll put on my thick rubber gloves when I get home and try to detach them from the LR w/out hurting the urchin, since these guys are very strong and hard to handle. Most likely I'll be...
