Pic of the week. ---Perched fish.

SM, Thanks! He's a good subject because he just sits in that leather all day. I wish I could get the color and sharpness of your pictures though. Conni

    Zoo Question

Zoos can get fungus. Sometimes it will take a whole colony, and sometimes just a few. Good water flow makes a difference.

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Without any calcium consuming organisms in the tank, you shouldn't need to drip kalk. Your salt mix should be plenty until you get some corals going. Then, when it starts dipping below 400 between water changes, you should start with the kalk. If your calcium goes too high, it will...

I don't think I can pick which is most important, but my fighting conchs are the coolest to watch! Conni

    Narkons 3 gal Eclipse journey

Those would do it. If I don't like the look of my actinic + blue + 6500K, I'll grab one of those 10000Ks to swap for the blue. Thanks!

    Narkons 3 gal Eclipse journey

I don't know if they're just out or not, but hellolights does not carry 13W 10,000K bulbs. You can get actinic, 7,100K blue, 6,500K daylight, or 50/50. (I just ordered a 7,100K, an actinic, and a 6,500K for my nano. If it turns out too blue, I might have to rethink that.) Anyway, this is...

Open brain coral injury - help

Do you have an iodine dip onhand? Or some reef iodine? I wouldn't take it out and dip it just yet, but watch it for signs of infection. If you start to see some, be ready to do a dip immediately. Keep your tank water pristine, and hopefully it'll turn out just fine! Good luck, Conni

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

I think running carbon while you're cycling and while facing an algae bloom is a good idea. If you get a great big HOB, you can mod it into a 'fuge later! Conni

Sounds like you've got the whole thing under control! That's going to be an amazing tank once it gets going! Conni

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

You're in sort of a tough spot: you don't want to change your water and disrupt the cycle, but you want to change water to lessen the algae's nutrients! You seem like a patient person who wants to do things the right way, even if it's the hard way. If I were you, I'd do the water changes and...
