It might be safer to get a new tank all together. Depending on how big your tank is, the amount of pressure from the volume of water may be enough to eventually fully breach the tank, especially now that the structural integrity's been compromised.

Can anyone recommend a good cannister filter for a 10 gallon? I'm constant;y plagued with dusty water, for some reason my fishes are stirring up my sand bed and kicking up a fine dust suspension in the water column. Do you think a cannister filter would be worth it for a 10G?

How long does new tank syndrome last? I had a diatom bloom that progressed into the red slime algae, which i tried to siphon out. However, i think the sand got disturbed and now there's diatom bloom throughout my tank, on my rocks, etc. Now my rocks have this fine coating of "gold" on them...

How long will the power be out for? If just for a few hours, you may be ok. It may be a good idea to find out so you don't invest on something that you might regret later.

I'd be careful that that bulb isn't drawing out too much more than the fixture is designed for. Think of it as putting a 100 wat bulb in a lamp rated only for 25 watts. Something will give, either the bulb or the wiring itself... if your lucky the bulb may just burn out. Worst case could be...
