Need to find some more room....

If my converstion is correct 1000lph comes out to 265 US gph. That really isn't a lot of flow, for tank your size. I think it's a bit underpowered even with out factoring in a small amount of head pressure with going from the sump up to the return point. I wouldn't split it unless you go...

    JBJ Nano

Depends on which size you're looking for. Village Tropical Fish has all the varieties of them. 12g fresh, 12g marine, 12g deluxe, 24g. I've also seen them at Planet Fish, but they were more expensive there, and they didn't have the 24g. I've seen them from time-to-time at Aquatic World...

    The Burbon Glass Pico

This would probably work....There's been multiple threads raving about them on nano-reef.com, and he finally put up a website. http://www.nimblenano.com/ B

closed loop w/ heater chamber (pico size)

Very, very cool. Great job. We'd definitely like to see pics of it running on the actual tank. B

    whats this?

I'd probably just scrape it off and toss it. I don't like things in my tank that I can't identify and figure out what it eats. B

    Minibow light intensity

I'd say go for it if you think you can fit it in. B

    Live rock hitchikers

Hmmm...My first response is there isn't too much you can really do. It'll either make it or it wont. However you might be able to improve it's chances by doing frequent water changes. Like every couple days do a 50% water change. I don't know how that will affect the cycle itself, if it will...

Need to find some more room....

SM, If you're talking about this: http://www.cpraquatic.com/products/overflows.html They've gotten pretty uniformally bad reviews on RC and reefs.org B

Need to find some more room....

You don't really have to drill it. You can use a standard overflow box, with a U-tube. Some people don't care much for them, but other than maybe taking up more space than you'd like inside the tank I think they work fine. B

    hi new here....

No offense, but you might want to start using the search function, both here and on nano-reef.com and RC. Most, if not all of your questions would be answered that way. In fact every question you have could be answered by looking around a bit. I love helping people out, but folks need to...

Will they make it or die???

I've never had particularly good luck with xenia. I've had 2-3 small pieces in the past that would do ok for awhile, then just close up and never really open up again. I agree that they seem to be mainly photosynthetic. They seem to be one of the corals that is easily affected by iodine...

Need to find some more room....

The only reliable way to do it would be with an overflow from the display tank to the sump, and a return pump from the sump to the display. Using two pumps is begging for a flood. One will die, or slow down due to buildup, and gradually, or quickly depending on the situation you'll have a...

I've got an olympus 5050. When I bought it a bit over a year ago it cost about $700. I've seen several used ones go for about $250 on ebay. Lots of people are picking up the OLY 8080 to upgrade and are getting rid of their 5050s. www.dpreview.com has great info. You can look all the...

    whats this?

Does the flatworm/snail have any kind of shell? Maybe somewhat flattened and covers just a small portion of it's back? If so it's abalone, and they're GOOD. B

    whats this?

Could be some type of flatworm. I'd probably remove it. It can't do any damage to the JBJ itself, and the fact that it's on the glass all the time points to one of two things. One-It's harmless, and probably eats algae. Or two-You just don't have coral or critter that's its meant to feed on...

    Overdriving PCs?

If it fires at all, it'll just burn it out incredibly quickly. You won't get any perceptable difference in light either, so it's not really worth it. B

    Planned my set up....any comments?

Everything sounds good to me. I haven't used the eheim filters, but eheim has a really good rep, so I don't think there'd be any problems with it. B
