    ALGEA

Turn your lights off. Remove the fish, take them back to the store. Don't feed the tank for another month. Add RO/DI water as it evaporates, otherwise don't touch it. Leave it alone and let it cycle. There really shouldn't be anything living added to the tank for the first month as your...

    Live Rock

It'd probably be cheaper to equip the 30 with decent lights, and filtration than it will be to get the nanocube and upgrade the lighting. The original Nano Cube just didn't have enough light to really keep much in the way of coral, maybe a few mushrooms, but not much else. With the cube DX...

    new display shot :)

Very nice. My purple firefish were shy for a little while, but now they stay out in the open most of the time. B

Heh, heh...I can't tell you the number of friends that have tried to get me to put something like that in my tank. B

    Fish for a 10g reef

If you've just started the tank, you might need to make sure that your tank has fully cycled before trying to add fish to it. Clowns are good choices, lots of gobies, and blennies will do fine in a 10g. Basically you want to keep one or two smaller fish for that size tank. B

    White swimming bristle worm

I would pull it out. 9cm is pretty large for a nano. Overall I think bristleworms are beneficial to a system. However I think they can be a problem if they get particularly large, or if the tank isn't being fed much. They're opportunistic detrivores, and if there isn't enough detritus around...

    Live Rock

Not too many folks have them yet, because they just recently came out. Even more recent is the 6g version. However lots of folks have had the 2 versions of the 12g, and the filtration system has pretty well proved itself. Lots of folks mod the cubes to improve them. The most common mod is...

    Lots About Liverock (56k warning)

Actually they did it to add ammonia to the tank. This is what starts your cycle. Some folks add a small damsel or other cheap fish, to generate ammonia through waste, some people just put a raw table shimp in the tank to rot, and then there are some that just pee in their tank. B

    Tank set up price?

The lighting itself is somewhat expensive. Replacing the bulbs isn't cheap, and generally needs to be done every year. If you are running MH lights it's very possible that you'll see a jump in your electric bill. However it's much more noticeable if you're running a normal sized tank that...

    Water

Distilled is not pure enough for marine tank use. You need either RO - reverse osmosis. Or RO/DI - reverse osmosis/de-ionized. B

    YES.

I've had mixed results doing it online. Some good results some not so good. I've had excellent results by meeting folks online that were local, or through the newspaper, yard/garage sales, and some shops near me also will sell used stuff when a customer breaks a tank down. It comes down to...

    Want to start 38cm cube

I've had 4 sets of clowns now. One true perc pair, the rest have been ocellaris. They're playful, but I'm not sure how interesting the behavior is. I finally have a pair that I think may start to lay eggs, which will indeed be cool, but none of my others ever got to that stage. I haven't...

Interesting Fish Behaviour for a 12g

Since you're getting along well with the folks at your LFS, I'd ask them if they'd be willing to special order you in a shimp/goby pair. If that's a no-go, maybe you could get a copy of their normal order list, that way we could get a better idea of what's available for you to choose from. B

    Fish for a 2.5?

mihkaail, Yeah....even in AUD, your prices are close to 1/3rd higher than what I'm normally seeing here. Of course if I go to the two most expensive places in town it's nearly the same as what you're paying in USD. There's a reason I don't shop those stores. How big is the area...

    Live Rock

TBS, and liverocks.com both have nearly sterling reps. I believe that TBS rock tends to have more life on it, but that means slightly more die-off during transit, and more negative hitchhikers like mantis shimp. I've seen several peoples new tanks after they got a large shipment of TBS, and...
