    need help plzzz noobie here!

I agree. Most of the problems people have with flow is that the tanks don't have enough flow so we upgrade the return pumps. The LR will break up the flow enough so your fish will have no problems. Something else to consider is that the fish may like to play in the flow and get blown around...

    jbj nano cube?

It all really depends on what you want to keep. It is possible to set a tank up from scratch a little cheaper and you may even end up with more lighting. I bought a 12 DX because I really like the looks of the Nanocubes and have always admired cube tanks. Decide what you may want to put in...

    Two gallon vase

You should be able to keep them in there as long as you can control the temp. and maintain evaporation to a minimum. You would also need to add at least an airline IMO for circulation. HTH, Skip

    YES.

I bought one on-line as soon as they were available. I am just trying to make up my mind what I am going to put in it and whether or not I want to upgrade the lighting before setting it up. In the meantime I am still enjoying my 12 DX.

    The Goniopora Secret

I remember reading something similar to this several years ago. I wonder now if thats why I had pretty good success with one when I first started out using a Skilter 250 for a skimmer and way to infrequent water changes.

    Want to start 38cm cube

Sounds like a good plan so far. I would use the tank dimensions to size the hang on with, I am not sure but it seems to me the an AC 500 is really wide so it may not fit. Are you going to build the tank yourself? Keep us posted on its progress. Good luck, Skip

    Lighting schedule in my 5.5

I also run around 12 hours with the exception of my nanocube which is currently lit for 9 hours daily due to some nuisance algae trying to get a grip on the tank.

    Sponge Filter

I rinse them weekly (at least) in plain RO water. What they are referring to would be if they were being used for your bacterial filter which is taken care of by your LR in a reeftank. I have removed all but one of my filter blocks and rinse it weekly discarding the rinse water. If you don't...

    Auto top-off for a nanocube?

I wondered about the same thing but initially was unable to get any responses. I finally fabricated a bracket to hold my floatswitch in the front area of the tank, it was held by one of the screws that holds the cover on the lights. It worked well but the bottom part of the floatswitch was...

Cleaner shrimp died in my g/f's tank

I have wondered what the life expectancy of a shrimp in our aquariums would be. Is it possible that the shrimp died and the emerald was taking advantage of the situation? I would definately keep an eye on the emerald just to be safe and if he appears to be stalking anyone else I would trade...

    Lee's counter current skimmer?

I used one in a 10 gallon once and if I remember correctly I had to cut about an inch off of the length, after that it worked fine. I may not have had the smallest model though, I can't be sure. HTH, Skip

    Clowns and Chromis

It was asked earlier if clowns would host in an elegance coral, the answer to this one is no because the sting of the elegance is too strong for a clown to become immune to it. On the true perc. being captive bred I am lucky to have a fellow member of our reefclub who is an amature clownfish...

    moon light suggestion pictures added

I feel like if you are not comfortable with wiring then you should play it safe and buy a factory made moonlight, they are not that expensive and alot safer if you aren't 100% sure about your wiring skills. A couple of $$$ saved on DIYing a moonlight isn't worth the cost of replacing a home...

    12 Gallon Nano Cube

I don't know of a book dedicated to nanoreefs but a couple of good books on reefing in general are "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner or "Natural Reef Aquariums" by John Tullock. Both are good books that give alot of information about reefing in general and most of the...
