I agree. Most of the problems people have with flow is that the tanks don't have enough flow so we upgrade the return pumps. The LR will break up the flow enough so your fish will have no problems. Something else to consider is that the fish may like to play in the flow and get blown around...

I bought one on-line as soon as they were available. I am just trying to make up my mind what I am going to put in it and whether or not I want to upgrade the lighting before setting it up. In the meantime I am still enjoying my 12 DX.

I remember reading something similar to this several years ago. I wonder now if thats why I had pretty good success with one when I first started out using a Skilter 250 for a skimmer and way to infrequent water changes.

Sounds like a good plan so far. I would use the tank dimensions to size the hang on with, I am not sure but it seems to me the an AC 500 is really wide so it may not fit. Are you going to build the tank yourself? Keep us posted on its progress. Good luck, Skip

I feel like if you are not comfortable with wiring then you should play it safe and buy a factory made moonlight, they are not that expensive and alot safer if you aren't 100% sure about your wiring skills. A couple of $$$ saved on DIYing a moonlight isn't worth the cost of replacing a home...

Is there any modification needed other than making the connections if the battery is already 12 volts on the back up?
