What is the longest you have gone without a water change?

My tanks have all gone at least a month so I was wondering how long anyone else has gone.

Any articles/write-ups/how-to’s for sub 5G setups?

Looks like you've already got AC150 or 300 on the back but maybe you could take the AC500 route like Cameron and throw the heater in there? Not sure if you've seen this link but check it out... http://www.nanotank.com/viewtopic.php?t=84

Looking good and moving right along. I believe you're doing everything right so far. Just keep things nice and slow. I wouldn't add any more corals or rock until the inital cycle is over which should be in 2-4 weeks (maybe even longer). I would think the new sand and even just the fact that...

Any articles/write-ups/how-to’s for sub 5G setups?

Incysor had said a few months ago that CORAL magazine's 2nd issue was focused on nanotanks. I would check that out. You can directly buy back issues for $10.00 I've heard. I was thinking about picking it up as well. Let us know what you find out.

Welcome to nanotank.com! Thats a great idea to get the girlfriend involved. It makes the whole thing so much more enjoyable if both of you find this hobby interesting. I recently got my GF involved as well and very glad I did. She might know more than me now! I think starting off with a...

    New to Nanotank!

I would start with a few mushrooms, green star polyps, xenia and maybe a small finger leather. These are all relatively easy corals to take care of and seem pretty hardy in my opinion. I would take the PC lighting route just b/c its a little cheaper but that is just my opinion as well. If...

    Reef Magazines?

Does anyone have suggestions for a good reef or saltwater-based magazine? I've heard that CORAL magazine is pretty good. What else is good? I wish they had a nano-based mag. That would rock! :jacko:

Where have you seen nice reef tanks out & about in Htown

Yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago. Pretty cool place. They've got something similar at Prive @ Westheimer and Montrose. Planted tanks...might have some ciclids.

    What is a Nanotank?

Great idea! You're right, the definition of a 'Nanotank' really isn't spelled out anywhere on this website. Unfortunately, there are many different opinons as to what a nanotank is. Some say tanks up to 30 gallons. Others have said a nanotank is any tank that you can pick up and move. I...

    New to Nanotank!

Welcome to Nanotank Tigerbarb420! Looks like you're doing your research and incysor certainly has been filling you in. A 10 gal would be a perfect size tank to start up a nano reef. Originally I was going to do a 10 gal. then a friend gave me his 20 and since then I've started up a 5.5 and...

    Purple Haze

Hey tigerbarb, I think the fish your are referring to is a flame angel. I've had a few different fish in my 20 gal. tank but it has been the most beautiful by far. He was a model citizen with no problems at all with my corals. It was very healthy for about 5 months then got ich and died...

    The Watts per Gallon Rule!

Yes, I think it is basically just a guideline to get people who are just getting into this hobby to start thinking about lighting and to realize its importance. I've learned that lighting really is the most critical part of your reef.

    Newbie lighting

Agreed. In most saltwater reef applications I've come across, the norm is to run one 10,000K 'daylight' and one "actinic" or blue PC bulb. This is what I'm running on all my tanks. I'm having serious evaporation issues on my 5.5 right now and I can't even imagine what it would be like with MH.
