I am guessing it's not the really red stuff yet..... sounds like normal diatom growth to me, give it time it will pass. You will get to enjoy all the colors.....brown, red green......welcome to the world of a new system!!! :-)

Mike, Sounds like you have it down. The only thing you may have to watch is the air from your cabinet may be a bit humid and you will have to cook your beads way more then you will like too.....

Mike, I forgot to ask, are you using pressurized air or venturi? If the return is going into the sump and chemipure, then I would say there isn't much danger of the 0 three doing much harm.....

IF YOU GO FOR A BATTERY OPERATED AIR PUMP...... Get the better one, which is made for saltwater. It costs a few bucks more, but will run 24 hours on one "D" battery.
